Nathan- (ROCKDJRW)- THE man! Signed Butkus RC!

Nathan got this card signed for me at the show today. Thanks so much Nathan!! This is one of the best in my collection (most I've paid for a signature yet) but well worth it! Will go great next to my signed '66 Philly Sayers!

    congrats John,

Nathan also hooked me up today with a Butkus, Garvey, Renfro and Stabler. I'll post scans after he emails them to me later. Sure wished I oculd have gone, would have been great to get to meet them.

Mike- I really wanted Renfro, for only $10 too! Couldn't find his RC, though, that wasn't an inflated ebay BIN.

That Fisk 10 is awesome!! Glad to help you guys out with your collections. Two things of note from todays signings
    1) I asked Dick Butkus who was the better basketball coach him or Reggie Theus. He told me that he was because he "Never got into pulling the kids shorts down". I have no idea what that means.
    2) Johnny Bench was signing and seemed to be very nice to people. I still think he is a tool just because of what I read on these boards. F Johnny Bench.

About four years ago I got a call and a relative told me that Dick Butkus was going to be at my cousin's house that evening. It was too late of notice to really get anything substantial signed but I was looking forward to it. Apparently, Dick's son was selling some type of insurance to casinos and he was going along for the ride and maybe silently using his celebrity. There was a local tough man competition that my friend was competing in that night, so my family and friends were hanging out BBQ'ing oysters and other snacks. It almost seemed so casual and felt good to just talk to Mr. Butkus that the autograph bug did not seem to overcome me. Afterall a geniune conversation with Dick Butkus was fantastic! I let him know about Rey Maualuga here locally as a high school senior..... just a few years later Rey was nominated for the Butkus award. It was a great time although now it would be pretty nice to have a autograph :-)

Nathan rocks!!! Here's the ones he got signed for me.

Tomorrow, I'm getting a 1982 Ric Flair and 1948 Leaf Jake LaMotta from the mail in signings at the show. Will be the 2nd most signed rookies I ever got from one show.
