Memory Lane Prices Versus Ebay Prices

Back in April 2009, Memory Lane, Inc., auction off the following cards:

1. 1934 Goudey #52 Herman Bell PSA 8
2. 1934 Goudey #72 Arndt Jorgens PSA 8
3. 1934 Goudey #65 Cliff Bolton PSA 8
4. 1934 Goudey #57 Bill Swift PSA 8
5. 1934 Goudey #63 Minter Hayes PSA 8

Each of these cards ended with a high bid of $387.75, as demonstrated here.

Now, each of these cards are being sold on eBay via straight auction by capcity4. I'll be watching the auctions as I'm curious as to how well, or not well, the cards do as compared to their auction house prices.

You'd think with the buyer's premium, shipping fees, and auction fees, it would be hard to profit from this method (if that is the seller's intent), but is an interesting test.

So the total of the five (5) cards as sold by Memory Lane is $1,938.75 ($387.75 x 5).

The final bid prices came out as follows:

    1. 1934 Goudey #52 Herman Bell PSA 8 - $242.50
    2. 1934 Goudey #72 Arndt Jorgens PSA 8 - $449.00
    3. 1934 Goudey #65 Cliff Bolton PSA 8 - $437.00
    4. 1934 Goudey #57 Bill Swift PSA 8 - $381.77
    5. 1934 Goudey #63 Minter Hayes PSA 8 - $369.00

So the eBay total prices came out to $1,879.27. Assuming everyone pays via Paypal, the ebay and Paypal fees come out to $129.09; which means the whole transaction ended up losing at least $188.57. Of course, I don't know for sure that capcity4 is the individual who purchased the cards from Memory Lane.
