It Pays to be Nice to People .... especially Enemies!

One of my dearest enemies, Dominic, passed away a few weeks ago from a sudden heart attack.
We've known each other since the late 50s and were the best of friends, but we always considered ourselves enemies because we grew up constantly fighting over everything from women to cigars. When we were in our 20s, Dom preferred short blondes (he was 5'7" 165 lbs soaking wet) while I preferred long-legged brunettes (I was 6'4" just shy of 300 lbs). He married a beautiful tiny blonde named Patty in 1968 and to this day she is still beautiful.
Yesterday, Patty stopped by and said that Dom had a few things he wanted me to have. I figured he left me some tools, which he didn't have many of, and the ones he did were old and rusty (he NEVER cleaned his tools when he was finished using them!) To my surprise, there in the back of her SUV were 5 beautifully framed autographed baseball jerseys. Patty said Dom always said that if anything ever happened to him that I should have the jerseys. Patty used to joke about throwing them out if he died because she hated the things hanging in their rec room; Patty was not into sports at all!
Anyway, I thought I'd share them with you guys .....

Dom ... I miss you goomba

There was a great "enemy". Thought of you even in his own mortality. His wife just as thoughtful and must be a great wife to follow his wishes and not fall to greed of money. He must have been a great guy.
Thanks for the share and RIP Dom.
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. But I hope each time you look at those jerseys they bring a smile to your face. That's what Dom would have wanted.
I have a game used jersey from a game that I watched on tv right before we went to the hospital for the birth of my first son.
Enjoy the jerseys.

Nice story. I feel sorry for whatever poor SOB inherits my collection after my inevitable demise. There aren't many people I know who would know what to do with a 95 Select Artist's Proof set other than burn it.

I consider my best friends enemies also.
Thanks for sharing that PoppaJ.
He gave you some sweet jerseys to remember him bye..
Please know that Dominic and his family will be in my prayers tonight. Seems like he was an AWESOME friend! I know you will treasure those jerseys.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
I shared each and every one of your comments with his wife, Patty. She was in tears to hear such heartwarming thoughts from people that never knew Dom.
I also found out that the reason Dom left me 5 jerseys, was because he wanted my four sons to each have one. So, being the wonderful dad that I am, I called each of them and told them to come over and pick out the one they wanted. The Aaron is mine!
p.s. I received a couple of PMs asking me if we were really enemies. No, we were the best of friends .... we just argued all the time in a brotherly way. Dom was small and feisty; it only took 4 beers for him to turn into Mr. 'I'm Gonna Kick Your Butt" Guy. I'm sure many of you know what I mean!
Anyway, God bless you all...
