Graded Star Basketball - Has anyone bought any?

Now that BGS grades Star basketball, has anyone bought one yet?

I was looking at a few of the sealed sets. I see a ton of the listed on ebay (mostly as BINs), but not much action.

Ive seen some of the sub/special sets going down in price and am thinking of picking some up. For instance, I love the Gatorade Slam Dunk with Jordan.

Is BGS grading bagged sets only or singles as well?
Kiss me once, shame on you.
    Kiss me twice.....let's party.
  • The struck a deal with the bigest collector/dealer of Star cards to grade his entire collection. It was mainly sealed sets.

I think it is both, but the majority are sealed sets. That is what concerns me, a sealed bag set at BGS 9.5 is only really on the header card and plastic bag.

I think these sets need to fall 25% before they make sense.

I use to be heavy into star basketball in the early 90's, so these bring back some memories.

Do you think collectors will see bgs similar to psa graded star cards? Sort of a niche. While most of the graded ones remain GAI.

The prices on ebay are pretty crazy, a $1,000 for a BGS 10 '83 All Rookie set?

Is the 84 Arena Bob Lanier still considered a rarity?

Back in the day, the Lanier was like the 85 Gatorade SP Barkley. They were both $300-500 and considered rare. But then the Barkley dropped to $30 or $50. The rarity thing was sort of a fad. Like error cards in baseball.
