Selling advice needed....

I plan on selling the 1975 Topps Aaron #660 PSA 9 that I have posted in the Mail Call thread here and in the 1975 Topps thread on the registry board.
I have researched past sales in VCP and compared mine to the images of those previously sold. I believe mine has better eye appeal than most if not all of those sold in the past 2 years. This represents 11 of the 23 9s graded.

From similar posts in the past I know that my options are:
1) Sell it here on the B/S/T board where I would only incur Paypal fees.
2) Sell it on eBay. My feedback is too low for an item like this, but I could sell it using a local dealer who has excellent feedback. Between eBay, Paypal, and his commission there would be 20 to 25% in fees.
3) Sell it through an auction house. I do not know typical fees here so that would be my first question.

Other questions:
Do registry leaders check the boards here?
Should I email registry leaders who do not have the card in a 9 and inform them of its availability? If so, do I quote a price or accept offers?
Am I correct in assuming that a quick sale is more likely accomplished on the B/S/T board and a greater return can be expected either through eBay or an auction house.
Are there any other issues I should consider?

Respond either here or through PM.

Thanks for any advice you can provide,
Charles

Try the BST first, it's free and not time limited. If that doesn't work out, there are several ebay options other than your local dealer who will charge a more reasonable fee. Contact them and see what you can arrange. BBCE, Just Collect, Consignmints just off the top of my head offer this type of service.

    Good luck

The better eye appeal statement won't bring much extra $$ if any. There are a limited # of people who are seeking a PSA 9 Aaron. Many who have the means $$ wise already have it, others are waiting for the price to drop. Very few, if any have been waiting to overpay, or pay extra for a nicer one. If half of the 9s have transfered ownership in the last 2 years that shows it isn't a really rare card, and more will surface with patience.

Try selling it here 1st. Show the front and back with a nice big scan. Price it fairly, maybe just over VCP average, keeping in mind that $$ was flowing alot better 2 years ago than it is now. Selling it here you save the fees, and you probably won't get shafted like you could on ebay. 99% of the people here are good to deal with, ebay has turned into hit or miss bay. Auction house bring good $$, but after the fees and the waiting time to get paid it is seldom worth it. If the card is THAT NICE it will sell itself here with no problem.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

mknez...thanks, I hadn't thought about those options for placing the card on ebay.

gamedusedhoop.....thanks for your thoughts, the B/S/T board here has been my first instinct.

    Any others care to add?

I'd check the registry and if I saw someone there that could use it I'd email them.

(of course only if they showed the email icon)

I'd know what I wanted for it, none of this make me an offer crap.

or I'd simply email all those that needed it and tell them it was on ebay.

    Does Spence need it?

And what was the VCP average?

Remember that all those sales are what the buyer's paid, not what the seller or consignor received for the card. With that in mind, say for instance you'd be happy to sell the card for $1000. Email all the Aaron and 75 set people with the price and a link to the pictures of the card. If that doesn't work list it on Ebay with a BIN of $1100 and best offer, and see what happens. You need big Ebay feedback to attract bids if you list it in an auction at 9.99 with no reserve. You don't need big feedback to list it as a BIN.

I think he'll be hard pressed to get close to the $1,047 in this economy. Furthermore, the last three have sold in the $660-$860 range. But, you never know until you try, and that's a nicely centered one.

    Remember,
The VCP average is the SELLING price, before E-bay, Paypal, and consignment fees.
If VCP is $1047, and you're only going to net $800 after fees,
put a $900 cash/money order price tag on it on the BST boards.

You net more money, and the buyer is buying under VCP...

How does the buyer paying under VCP benefit the seller?

I believe he's referring to l the idea being BST at $900 would net the seller more than $900 on ebay. Making the buyer happy to pull the trigger assuming a deal and the seller still happy as he/she nets more than what an ebay sale would be.

If bought off ebay seller saves on fees.

That's an excellent point about selling here on B/S/T versus ebay...even if you receive a little less money for it here, you actually gain more total by avoiding the ebay fees. Plus I would trust the members here much, MUCH more than simply an anonymous buyer off ebay.
