My biggest game find EVER - for the CARD collectors also!!!!! Never thought I'd see one on ebay!

I never thought I'd ever see one of these for sale in any condition!

And this one is in "any" condition - but the cards are great for their age!

This is "The National - American Base Ball Game - Parker Brothers, 1913"

The cards are 2 3/8 x 3 1/4" and the backs are used to play the board game. The cards come in blue and red variations with the reds being somewhat more rare.

The entire set of FIFTY are in the red variation.

The box isn't in the best shape - but if this game were to come up in Exmt shape? It would go for more than I could/would afford.

image

The board is very small - this almost looks like a game to take while traveling; I'm glad the instruction booklet is still there also!

image

This is a popular card to have graded - and many people already have it - here's one I borrowed from ebay:

image

The seller doesn't deal in cards/sports stuff - and found out after the sale that the cards are collectible - commented in such a way to find out if I was gonna break the game up? I told her - "no."

The only thing I might consider, is to take the best card and have it graded for display purposes? Most likely not.

Well - I'm happy - I've picked up some really nice stuff this past 2 weeks and am totally out of budget money. But, I couldn't be happier if I were twins!

Nothing till Sep 1 for me!!!!

Thanx for viewing

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

How ironic that I was looking at that very card last night about an hour before this thread.

Another great pickup Mike, I'd like to see your entire collection all in one picture, just because. image

    Hi Mike,

    Congrats on a Fantastic find!

My father had this game, only the cards were the blue backs. We played it a couple of times or so, way back in the '50s. I remember asking him why the only player pictured on the game cards was Nap Lajoie, but I can't recall his exact answer. I think it had to do with Lajoie being one of the most popular players back then. It was between Lajoie and Cobb, but Parker Brothers thought kids would go more for the likable Lajoie.

    Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Very cool, Mike ...nice work, but...

Nothing till Sep 1 for me ...that's a long time to say no.

    Mike

PS: I was removing items (many boxes) from a spare room (to be our daughters new room) last weekend and found a 1970's Game (?) Instant Replay... the one that has a few small 3" records, I added a battery and it still works! Any idea what it's worth complete with box, player, records, ect?

    Sorry I don't Mike.

I collect - specifically "board games" - usually 80s or older - even some of the 80s games are cool - especially if ya can get one still with the wrapper - I'm hoping to find a Brett game in that condition.
