Dear Set Registry Members,

Now, with over 45,000 sets registered, selecting just two dozen major award winners is challenging and difficult. There are simply hundreds and hundreds of spectacular collections now registered in the PSA Set Registry. These collections, small and large, are being listed by over 4,200 active collectors. Each and every one of you deserves credit for helping to build this collector community, a community that has helped reshape the trading card marketplace. The awards were given to registrants based on, but not limited to the following criteria: set popularity, difficulty, grade average, completion percentage, domination, and degree of competition within the set category.

This year we are proud to announce that Michael Rakosi is the inductee into the PSA Collector Hall of Fame. Michael has been the winner of numerous awards in the Registry and has, without a doubt, the finest basketball card collection ever assembled.

    Too bad I had to dump some cards a few months ago, or I'd have 4 #1 ranked sets right now. Oh well.

    Honestly, I got no issues with Mr. Yount. I have always respected guys who played for one team for their whole careers. Also, I heard an interesting trivia question once: Who is the only player to have 200 or more career base hits against every team he faced in his career. The answer is Robin Yount. Never been able to verify that one, and I'm assuming it obviously didn't count World Series play.

    I didn't think you did...and I certainly don't. I just enjoy cracking wise about his hair & moustache from back in the day. It all seemed to fit in back then, but it's humorous now.

    I couldn't agree more about the respect to be given to guys who play their whole careers for one team. That's one of the big reasons I collect Yount & Gantner.

    I just verified it, and it's true. Pretty cool. And no, it doesn't count WS play.

    No one's coming close to matching that, especially with interleague play in the mix.

    digicat - I would be shocked if that's correct. Eddie Collins , Mel Ott, and Lou Gehrig come to mind right away. So does Ted Williams, if you count the Browns and Orioles as the same franchise.

    I don't see a 'Best Modern Miscellaneous Sports Set of the Year (1972 to present)' or did I miss it?

    You could be right. baseball-reference.com doesn't have vs team splits earlier than the 50s, but with the small 8 team leagues, it's likely that one of those guys got it. Still, once expansion started, that little feat becomes a whole lot more difficult.

    If you are the first to complete a set in all 10's, do you receive the award every year for as long as PSA is giving them out?
