2.)was the grader in that bad a mood
3.) is it someone who is really rich
4.)someone who just does not have an idea on grading and is going to be cursing for a year

It seems like this submission was put together by someone who has not been paying attention to baseball for the last 18 years.

Jim Abbott, Steve Avery, Ron Gant, Deion Sanders, Tom Gordon, Dave Justice?

I'm surprised I don't see Ben McDonnald or Todd Van Poppel in this sub!

I'm sure Joe O. will be getting a phone call, telling him his graders are idiots and the submitter had these cards since he was a kid, storing them in a shoebox in his closet and they were all mint when he sent them to PSA

My guess is someone who LOVES collecting ... has a few bucks to piss away ... and just subbed cards of anyone who, at one time, was a "hot rookie", "good ballplayer" or it's a "Old Card".

SO many people who are just getting into collecting think anything from the 70s and before MUST be worth money

It's possible that this was someone's personal collection, way back when, and were graded for keepsake/sentimental purposes. I've recently gone through a few of my collection when I was a teen and I can tell you I'd rather have a PSA 7 1990 Bo Jackson from my collection than a PSA 10 off an eBay auction. It's also possible that this was subbed by the next of kin of someone that has recently passed away.

That submission sort of looks like the old 3 ring binder I have full of 9 card pages full of the late 80's and early 90's hot stars and rookies. My guess is somebody noticed how PSA cards sell for more than raw cards, and decided to submit their old 3 ring binder without paying much attention.

more the likely #4. but i might (and probably will) get the same results from my next two subs. but in my case one is older cards (t206's, early leaf/bowman football etc) and the other is a larger patch sub. those thick patches always take a beating from graders.

If a grader sees a rare high value card I would think they would show other graders the item they were grading. "wow look at this item Bob"

Wonder if they do the same with these subs "holy Sh$t! look at this crap Bob"

IMO, this is someone who collected in the late 80's and got out of the hobby for a while and has come back without ever doing research on what this garbage is selling for. T

People see $2 cards on ebay going for several hundred (86 Ryan)... they think ALL graded cards are that way without researching WHY they are that way. This guy probably thought he was going to make aa fortune on this, which would also fall into line with many of the collectors who started in 1987-1988, they got in it to make some $$$$.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

That sub is ridiculous but I am pretty sure this guy is not looking to have those cards graded for a financial gain. He probably collected as a kid and wanted his collection slabed for sentimental reasons. I have subbed a cards that I knew would not grade well but I obtained them as a kid and wanted them encapsulated to preserve them.
