Turns out Rava is a lawyer. In fact, this is not his first men-inism lawsuit. He's been part of more than 40 male anti-discrimination lawsuits, sometimes as the plaintiff, like in Oakland, and sometimes as the plaintiff's lawyer. He has sued Club Med over a ladies-only promotion. He's sued the Angels for giving away a $1.45 tote bag to women in 2005. He has sued restaurants and nightclubs and theater companies. Mr. Rava gets incensed a lot.
Oh, and he doesn't even work in Oakland. He works in San Diego. Gee, I wonder what a sue-happy lawyer from San Diego would be doing at an A's-Twins game the very day that they were holding a women-only giveaway? I called and asked.
But Rava wouldn't say.
"Season-ticket holder?" I asked.

"You went to a game on Mother's Day, to a game that was promoting breast cancer awareness, and you felt victimized by not getting a floppy plaid sun hat?"

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Basically the Supreme Court has refused to put sexual discrimination in the same category as racial or religious discrimination. For years women's rights activists have pushed for the same "high" level of scrutiny on gender based decisions.
If they were sucessful getting the highest level of scrutiny (they have not been) this guy would definitely be getting his free hat. And perhaps ironically if he was succesful in his suit it is a victory for women's rights.

Most stadiums now have the policy if someone ask for one they give them one. Women's or Men's night it does not matter, just ask and you will receive. The only way to avoid discrimination law suits.
You can call this guy a tool if you want, but he is now a wealthy tool.
People have sued bars for Ladies Night, discounted drinks and no cover!!! That is not fare why should I pay more? I'll sue them. And they become wealthy also. The moral of the story: Become a Tool and become wealthy. Any Questions?

How about this one.
Kids can play on the toys at McDonald's, and I can not. That is discrimination, I want to play also. I'm going to sue for the right to work off all the calories I just ate. It is the least they can do for making food that unhealthy.

Possible. But considering him and the other lawyer involved are know for "ladies night" lawsuits and the like, and the 2 plantiffs, one is a paralegal and the other has attended law school, I assume they went to the game to sue. I'm unsure if the above applies to the A's lawsuit or the Angels tote bag SGA lawsuit they are involved with.

If they wanted a hat, they should have paid to go to the game like everyone else. And his mom died...of breast cancer. What a schmuck - I'm sure she's really happy that he likely killed the chances of the A's doing a breast awareness night like this again.
