Definitely have to have '82s. '80s are good too if they have any.

I think I'll have to pass on this one.

One can only assume that the guys who pulled the good stuff decided not to scan their cards, because I haven't seen anything worth much in the group break thread.

The baseball and football rip combined cost nearly $4000.

That's a lot of coin for an 82 donruss Ripken rookie and a 1989 score Aikman rookie with a dinged corner.

Combine that with the fact that Bill pulled 4 cards out of a 1983 pack with wax stains and the pack of 89 upper deck that had a 1982 topps card in it, and I'm starting to lose faith in the upside of these breaks.

They're certainly a blast to participate in, but I guess I need a break from this one.

Are there guys out there who pulled rookies of Ripken, Gwynn, Sandberg, Boggs, McGwire, Marino, Elway, etc. who are not showing their scans?? If there are, I'll chalk up my cards to bad luck. If they're not out there, $4000 seems a little steep.

    Thanks for the invite though.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

I am potenitally in for another rip. I perfer a run of packs since it brings back tons of memories instead of a single box. Maybe do a Topps only run starting at 1979 for wax packs, or we could do a Cello run from 1978 onwards since this is what Steve has in stock.

The last two rips I was lucky enough to nab a Ripken Topps Rookie and a Clemens Topps Rookie. These are both NM-MT cards. With the money spent I could have grabbed them in PSA 9 plus a few other key hits in PSA 9 as well. Participate in the Rips for fun, not to make money.

Topps Cellos from '78-'85 and Fleer cello's from '82-'85 would be a fun dozen packs to rip.

I pulled a Boggs RC. I had decent star power in my rip.

I think I had real good star power in mine. My best pack was my 84 Donruss with Mattingly, Ryan, and a couple other stars.

I will have to pass for now, it was fun but with all this talk of fake seals I just cannot bite the bullet. I had a couple packs that had half the cards they were supposed. I'm sure it was just an oversight, must be very hard to organize such a large break and ensure every pack was fine...

This is very interesting. I've always had good fortunes with the BBCE. I wonder if the BBCE used a different supplier for the 80's rip.

I'd be interested in another rip.

The only pack in my 80s baseball rip lot I was skeptical about was 82 Donruss. I got a LaMar Hoyt midway through the pack that had a huge crease down the middle. But then someone posted a real nice looking Ripken they got out of their pack.

One question I have about the 80s rip. Were they pulled out of complete unopened boxes, or were there pulled from packs at random?

Don't know for sure but since there were 36 slots sold, I'm guessing BBCE opened a complete box for each. Notice the packs came in an empty box, mine did at least ('81 Donruss).

They were all from unopened boxes. That's why there was 36 spots.

    ok,

BBCE doesn't have to many 80 topps left. has plenty of every thing else.

    nothing is booked yet but
    so i was thinking 1981 to 1985

the first 4 people to pm with there suggestion who is participating, is what we will go with.
so if your looking for a certain year and brand, now is your chance.
this way the cards aren't based around my needs, but as well as others to.

    i choose 83 topps

    1979 Topps
    1981 Topps
    1982 Topps
    1983 Topps
    1984 Fleer
    1985 Fleer

    i have no prices yet,
but if you would like to sign up now and reserve your slot, feel free

this gets you 2 packs from each year. 12 packs total per slot.

Your update is very confusing. You have 6 years listed, but only 18 slots? I'd be interested in ripping packs from any of those years, but I'm not exactly sure what is going on.

Why so much in a rush? My opinion is that to avoid confusion, actual group rips should start on a separate thread.
