Imagine the fun!

I am literally encased in a room chalk full of 1953-79 vintage baseball cards slopped around in random boxes, piles, top loaders, sleeves, stacks of raw stuff, sets, unopened packs, team bags, binders, sets, graded PSA's/BGS cards, you name it...90% of this stuff I have only taken a cursory glance at.

Tonight, I am going to simply enjoy sorting, appreciating the card's inherent value, and seeing for the first time a whole bunch of cards that are cool to look at...
Anyone jealous? image

(P.S. This is my one thread for today, the other one was on a different board...)

Hmmm. Not sure if I can put some up tonight, I have so many cards in different corners of the room, etc. that one picture won't easily capture it if that makes sense. Will try to come up with a few in the next day or two. Thanks, Pat

Is this from a collection you bought? An accumulation of things you never had a chance to sort? Things given to you?

I went to a card show over the weekend, the second one I've done as a "seller." As you have probably heard a few hundred times in recent threads, I was laid off from my job in Feb. and in the meantime have decided to pursue my dream of collecting and selling cards. It may or may not work...to be continued.

Anyway, to answer you question, I went to the show with about 5K worth of stuff that I mostly (75%)bought on eBay. My brother gave me $600 cash to play around with. I left the show with $900 bucks and a bulk load of stuff that I think was worth buying at the price I did...

In the meantime, I'm just having fun sorting through this stuff!

Very nice. Except for the part of being laid off. I was laid off in March and am still looking. I know something will turn up eventually. With the economy the way it is, there are goods buys to be had. Hopefully you are correct and turn some of that over for a nice profit. Have fun sorting and good luck.

On the B/S/T forum and through PM I will discuss all that stuff, but right now just want to stick to the original thread, but thanks for your interest...

Bill--I thought I made it clear that I am done with this stuff. If you want to egg me on I think you should stop now. At this point, to me this is not just having fun. Let it go. Move on, reply to other posts. If not, you are just disrupting this post and being the so called "troll" that you apparently hate. Please stop, enough said. You actions will speak volumes to other. Thanks, Pat
  • I guess I will ask the same question you refused to answer on the other thread. Where was this fantabulous show you went to?

Raleigh, NC. And I met a board regular board member there. I will not disclose who this is, will let him do so. He is a good guy, and damn smart. He posts I think every week or two but not necessarily everyday.

When I was in middle school I had a girlfriend. But she lived up in Canada. You wouldn't know her. We kissed and did all kinds of stuff.

There was a 170 table show in Raleigh this weekend. I didn't realize that's where you are at Pat. I lived in Cary for just a bit.

Cary, eh? The Contaminated Area of Relocated Yankees? image I think I am off a word---please correct me. BTW--an interesting side note. My biggest disappointment/worst experience of all times came as a result of a (woman) seller there who tried to job me on a few 70's cards...Update: She is out of business now because she was more into breaking magic wax with her drug-addict husband than actually being a good hobby shop owner. Good riddance!

  • This is where I will be tomorrow. We have 5 second floor balcony rooms reserved on the Bourbon Street side. There is a very nice card shop 2 blocks away. My wife said she wants to go with me. image

the offical quote is "Containment Area for Relocated Yankees".
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
