What's up with 1993 finest refractors?

I see these from time to time on ebay in psa slabs that sell for $500+ it could be any random player and they all seem to sell for high $$
Any background on the story of these cards? I'm boggled with the amount ot $ and attention these cards get....

nope, only difference from the base card is the refractor finish on the front.
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

<< <i>Are the 93 Refractors numbered on the back eg; 83/500? Also why the 93's and not any other year? >>
It was a revolutionary set in the hobby...a first of its kind and VERY rare in comparison to anything every produced...less than 300 each if I remember correctly.
They aren't numbered.
