traded my way to a 65 Namath

Always wanted one, did not start with a 1986 Topps Alan Knicely, but got this in via trade today, not high grade, but good eye appeal, and looks great to me.

Not a big elaborate story or as nearly as interesting as the 52 Mantle thread.

Basically I am 36 years old, have collected off an on since I was 6. I have always wanted this card. Always. It is one of the iconic cards of football collecting. It is like a football collectors 52 Mantle. I never was in a position to get one, until I happened upon a guy that had 2 of them, and was willing to trade. He has actually gotten them from an old man in a brown paper bag years ago with a bunch of other 1965 Football. He traded me the Namath for a bunch of moder HOF auto cards. I have moved to collecting strictly vintage stuff, after years of trying to keep up with the auto craze, so it was a win win for both of us. I just thought it was a catchy title to put "trade my way" since we have the ongoing Mantle thread already in existence.

yes. I want to get it slabbed for protection and even though it will not be high grade it is going into a few of my registry sets I am working on.

It won't be a 10 or anything, but it is still a really good looking card that you can be proud to own. I'd sure love to have it. I had a Namath rookie once upon a time, but it would have graded 1 or 1.5. Your card looks great to me.

Congrats, I saw that you and the other trader were in contact on another board and was wondering if you made the deal. It will help w/ the HOF registry. Looks great!

Congrats! That is a very nice looking card that presents well for a lower grade copy.
