driving time to the National from R.I.

so I am going for the 1st time...

looking at travel time to Cleveland from Rhode Island.

Anyone have any idea how long it will take to get there?

If not from RI...how abou Boston or surrounding areas to Cleveland?

Is it a good drive?

Anyone else driving from here?

Thanks--Manny

I've taken that drive before. It's pretty boring. You'll likely go 95 to the NY Thruway and take 90 to Cleveland. Between Syracuse and Buffalo there's basically nothing. Same with Albany to Syracuse. I think we did it in like 9 1/2 hours.

Im gonna try and fly in from Florida. Have to see what the schedule is. I hate driving or riding in a vehicle for long periods of time. I used to go on 8+ hour convoys and man they suck in Iraq heat....

I did it in 2000 from Boston to Cleveland.

Took the wife and then 15 y/o daughter with me.

Was about 15 hours of car time. Prolly could have done it in 12 if I was by myself

A group of us are talking about going to the Friday night Tribe game, do you think you'll make it there Manny?

    Manny,

It may take you a little longer because you are going to have to stop in New York and pick up your room mate for the National.

aww Jeff, no invintation for newbie?
  • Have your wallet handy when traveling through NY State they sure do love to take your money.
Looks like the N.Y State Thruway toll will be $17.55 each way for your trip.

I think this is a "the more the merrier" situation. There's a separate thread discussing the Friday game.

    Perfect advice!

Though, if there was a nice train, I would opt for that.

Manny ... I actually was thinking about it ... However, I just found out this morning that my dad needs surgery and it will probably be the 3rd or 4th week of July, so I will have to pass. Next year is Baltimore(?), so hopefully plans can be made early for that one. I have only been to one National ... Atlantic City back in the 80s.

I'm not sure about Boston, but Cleveland to New York (Yankee Stadium) is close to 7 hours non-stop.

I went with my cousin in 2001.

Long boring drive, nothing around. Take I-80 + I-90 all the way to Cleveland.
