How much do you think PSA makes?

After watching the PSA grading video, I assume there really are 5 or 6 people touching each card they grade. Verifying, logging, grading, sealing, packing, mailing etc. Then there's the cost of supplies, holders, labels, packing boxes etc., not to mention all the overhead and the fact they are in Newport Beach.

So how much profit do you think there is for each card they grade on a $5 special?

    Hopefully, at least 20%+.

Since CLCT is a public company, you can read their SEC
filings and make some educated guesses about margins.

Hmmmm that all depends on how much the graders get paid. Slabs and flips cant cost more than 50 cents combined. I know PSA does make profit on shipping. I paid $26 for shipping and the price on the label was $12. The box, peanuts, tape cant be more than $3 combined....which is why i think they dont let people pick up their orders
  • An article in Tuff Stuff magazine stated that PSA grades over 100,000 cards a month on average. Obviously they work on a volume basis and they must be doing very well....

Just set up a fedex account... I don't think they can over charge you there... I've been using fedex for over a year now and I've found it much faster and cheaper!
