Thanks man, I was just going to pick something up at walmart or target, but they all looked like kids bikes, so I did some research and checked the local bike shop.
If I am doing my math right, I think with tax mine was about a buck an ounce! I guess that's not too bad...
That's an awesome looking ride. I need to get me something like that. I know nothing about bikes. Can you get a decent 'beach cruiser' type bike for $300-$400 or do I need to prepare to pay up? I need something quality enough that it can haul my too large 225 pound body around without falling apart in 6 months.

I would think in that price range you could get a pretty nice beach cruiser bike, I did a lot of google searching for reviews on mountain bikes - after I went into my local bike shop (to see what brands they carried), but before I went back to buy one. A lot of the expense on the higher end one comes from the suspensions and gears and such, I don't think you would have to worry about those costs on what your looking for.
turning 40 is all about testosterone preservation! If you are not carrying that much fat, sprinting is much better for you hormonally. Increases positive hormones like test & GH, cardio increase negative hormones like cortisol. I would sprint using the bike if your carrying alot of fat until you can sprint/run. Bike 1/4 mile at a level that is "hard" then drop to a low gear with a high COMFORTABLE pedal rate for 1.5 -2 miles. repeat this 5x. then 20 min of deadlifts, standing press, pullups, lunges. all free weight no machines.

Way to go. To keep it some what on topic, a mountain bike will be more useful in more emergency situations than a few of rolls of 90% silver--by far. Add the health benefits and it is an every day value as well.
I bought one like that a few months back. Great for exercise. I just couldn't adapt to the major leanover to grip the bars. I don't go fast enough to worry about aerodynamics and the bending was getting to me. I replaced the bars with a big U shaped set and now I can sit up and ride in comfort.
