Thoughts on this 52 Mantle PSA 7

I'm always a little suspicious of listings like this since the seller doesn't appear to have sold any high end cards before. Haven't seen the PSA packing slips lately...does everything stack up here?

He was NARU from ebay shortly after.

Does anyone ever believe the fluff sellers spout? It is always undergraded, bla bla bla.
It is what it is. IMO there is no way it bumps to 7.5, not with that centering anyway.

It's probably normal to be a bit skeptical when you consider that the seller basically only sells mattresses and then out of nowhere pops a '52 Mantle for sale.
It looks like the seller has disclosed as much info as one could possibly expect, and his Feedback from Others is very clean. I'm not so sure that the card is bump worthy.
I would definitely fly out to see the card before I actually purchased it though. I would do that no matter who was selling it!
Pricewise, I get the sense that this particular seller is not going to succumb to a much lower price like this seller did.

<< <i>Thunderdan, you live in the Seattle area right? I thought Olympia. Are you thinking of asking to take a look? I'm in Seattle and would be curious. The auction is up for a month supposedly, enough time to run up to Monroe for a looksy. >>
Why would anyone want to take a look? I mean, are you interested in buying it? Or do you just want to kick the tires?
but possibly the person from whom they would be giving 40k+ too?

Yep, I'm in Seattle. Monroe is just north of me. I'm thinking about taking a look.

I'm in the market for a PSA graded Mantle PSA 3-7. Being a VCP subscriber, I'm well aware at the vast price differences within that grade range and would rather find a nicely centered lower grade and not spend that much dough. Very low probability that I would buy this card unless I were 100% confident it was the real deal and it was a fair price, but I am interested in seeing it with my own eyes, especially since it's local.
I never realized you were considering buying the card.
I'll definitely update the thread if I end up pulling the trigger. Like I said, low probability on this particular card. The more I think about it, the more it seems the easiest way to know for sure that a PSA holdered 52 Mantle is legit is to find one at the national show and walk it over to the PSA table (w/ owner of course) and get them to buy off on it before shelling out $.
I'm not interested in buying a Mantle only having to worry about sending it in to PSA to get it reholdered or verified. I like my sleep too much for that. Also, I would never risk cracking something like this out of the holder in hopes of getting a bump to 7.5. Leaving it in hoping for the bump won't get you anywhere, in my opinion, with this card.
I think it's kind of funny that so many sellers think they were shortchanged on their card's grade. "Hi-end 7," "PSA 9+++++," and the like.
On the packing slip (and in description), it says card was graded 5/4/09 (Monday). The item has been listed since around Monday at midnight. Even with overnight shipping from PSA, the card wouldn't have had time to arrive in Monroe, WA so that it could be posted for sale. Maybe he went down to pick up in person and flew back (or posted on eBay from CA) given the value of the card. Curious to see what he says.
Ok, enough eBay sleuthing for today.
Oh, and thanks for everybody's inputs so far on several threads I started on '52 Mantles. Lots of helpful insight.

In the picture with the box from PSA, there is a green sticker that appears to say "premium walkthru" which is the same day grading service. He probably flew down just to have the card graded and then posted it for sale when he got back home. The address on the packing slip also appears to say Monroe, WA. Seems like it very well could be legit.
