Yes, it was just a concession stand ball - but a great souvenir of a great team.

Judging by the Mantle sig it must have been early to mid-1950s.

I have a Braves stamped auto ball from 1983 that I got as a kid. Has zero value but a cool item that I enjoy looking at.

1958 to be exact; only year Virgil Trucks pitched for Yanks....maybe worth $25-$40 (I'm glad you kept in good condition all these years)

Hi Bill,

you're right on about Mantle's sig; actually it is very close to his rookie season.

it would be kind of cool to have a ball like that of each team from that era!

Very cool souvenir and memory from your youth. I used to always want those little white plastic souvenir logo bats that came with each league on a red display type stand. I remember being so excited when my dad bought me a set when I was younger. I kept those for years but I don't think I ever saw them again after I left for college. they might be in my parents storage somewhere. I need to go over to ebay and find me a set to put on my shelf at home.

Here's the one I have. Different year (no Trucks). I like how they got creative and flipped the Stengel and Mantle sigs.

Hi Mike,

Your post above made me think about souvenirs from my youth.

I had a cousin who lived near Cincinnati back in the 50's. He always had tons of Reds' stuff (memorabilia) from the 50s and 60s that he received from his next door neighbor who was some big shot with the Reds.

He gave me this 1951 Players Card from Crosley Field's Cincinnati Reds Knot Hole Club.

I'm kind of glad that he didn't sign it! I liked the part about "not using tobacco in any form" at the ball park.

That's a great ball, kudos to you for still having it! And even bigger kudos for keeping it in such nice shape!

I have a few of those type balls, but mine are Milwaukee Braves ones. I think they are a neat item, they display nicely, especially with a team card or photo from that year.

It's amazing how many folks list those on Ebay and claim they are team signed. I've sent a few messages trying to let them know the truth gently. Some ignore me, some actually listen, all I'm doing is trying to help.

I don't know about the Yankees ball, but I know they do sell in the $40-60 range, the ones I have bought or watched. I did see one come up that was still new in the original bag, boy I wanted that one!

Actually, I would like to have a '58 Yanks to go with the '58 Braves I have. They would make a great display with a WS ticket and photos from that year.
