Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

gumbyfan's official THANK YOU message

I wasn't exactly sure how to do this, since there are a few different threads I could post this to, so I just decided to start another. Many of you have chipped in to send me (or sent me separately) great gifts for my work on the group submission. Beyond the monetary gifts, many of you sent me cards for my collection. I received a great graded 1979 Topps Jim Gantner from mknez, some Gantners and Younts from Bill, a big stack of Molitors and Younts in CS1's ready to submit from Bryan...along with his old 5x loupe (it's HUGE!), a signed Jim Gantner card from Robert, some autographed Brewers cards from Doug and the list goes on and on. (If I've failed to note any gifts here, I apologize, I received many and I am working from memory while taking a break at work)

I truly appreciate all of this generosity more than you know! It is very humbling for me.

With that said, I am very happy to now share with everyone what I will be doing with the gifts I've been given. I am rounding the cash total up to $300 and will donate it to stown's Livestrong Challenge later this year. Having lost family and friends to cancer, it is a cause that is very close to my heart. Barry's ride is October 24-25, so please contact him for more details if you'd like to also contribute.

Again, thank you to all of you for your generosity. After all, it was everyone's generosity that inspired me to do this.

Gumby - we appreciate all the work you put in on this. Your further donation to Livestrong is an awesome way to pay it forward.

This group sub is actually a lot more fun than just getting your own grades back, because we're all in it together.

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
If the mountains should crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me.

Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
But my love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
Inspiration's what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.

Gumby, may the Royals and Brewers meet in the World Series so your futures bets pay off handsomely.
Hey, the Royals are in first place!

Craig, That's very kind of you to make a donation to the Livestrong Foundation. A few years ago when I was training really hard in bicycling I was going to try and do their local ride out here in Los Angeles, but I couldn't make it....I did make sure I made a monetary donation instead as its a charity near my heart as well. I lost my grandmother to an inoperable cancer and my aunt has a very rare cancers right now.

God bless you and all of our members that made this happen.

Wish I could have an eloquent post, expressing my gratitude for Craig but I'm waaaay too tired from staying up and watching last night's game.

Craig, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. When he told me of his intentions, it reiterated how I feel about this forum. While a lot of us butt heads about different topics, the core of this community is as generous as they come.
