Worth a Crack & Resubmit?

Am finally filling out my April specials. I'd be happy with a 7 on either of these two, but neither is way off.

What are the odds of a 7 on each?

I'd say 30% Maris & 40% Ruth...

Any chance of lower grades?

    I don't see room for a 7.

I guess there is always a chance of a lower grade.

I'm going to agree with storm, I'd be more worried about going down a 1/2 on the ruth.

I wouldn't mess with those. You could easily come back with a 6 on both.

I agree with the others ... keep them where they are. Looks like a little too much brown missing on the corners of the Ruth. On the Maris, corners have some wear but the card looks out of focus as well. JMO.

Agreed men. Corner issues are much more apparent on the big scan than in person. The Maris is a little off on registration, although corners aren't bad.

edit: I will say I have many worse 7's than either, but they are still grading these tough.

Off on registration? You need 3-D glasses to see that puppy. If I bought those sight-unseen I'd be one pi@#*d off person.
  • I would totally agree with leaving those cards were they are. I got these back a few weeks ago and to me there's not much difference between the Marichal and at least a 7 at best, but maybe you guys see it differently. They are tight on grading the '62's. I'd say be happy with a 6.5 and a 6.

THAT'S a tough "6" on that JUAN! Is there a problem with the reverse? Could they have taken that much off for the T/B centering? TOUGH GRADE!

Here's the back. It is OC but what happened to "eye appeal" or pretty sharp corners? Just by looking at those cards I thought the grading was all over the place. I guess I should quit complaining and resubmit.

DAMN! The reverse is not that bad to knock it down from a "7"!!!!

Marichal should be a 7 easy. The other 7's could be 8's too. T-O-U-G-H.

You guys are getting me scared with those 62s! LOL I was going to sub this next time around (when I got enough to sub under a "Special"), but maybe now is not the right time. What do you think of this card? (Reverse is better than 90/10.)

Looks like a solid 7 Doug, maybe 7.5.

maybe there is a scratch on the marichal surface?? if not that is a 7 easy.. centering keeps it from an 8

doug, I wouldn't be shocked to see yours come back 7.5 - 8

for those who are saying no way to 8.. keep in mind that is a big scan and I bet in hand and in a slab those corners look pretty sharp

    Doug -

Your card is hacked up. Either a factory miscut or a bad trim job on both the left and right.

    7 if not miscut. Chaz.
