More and more PWE's....a sign of the economic times???

Today I receive 3 items in the mail. All PWE's. Only one was well protected on the inside. This has been a much bigger trend for me lately. Im getting nearly half my cards in PWE's even though Im paying the same amount in shipping. Not on graded cards of course...just on raw. Anyone else noticing this???

Its not going to get any better with stamps going up to 44 cents on May 11th (TTM hunters beware).

I know this sounds corney but when I am sending one card in a trade I send it in a card (xmas card, thank you card) After christmas I purchased a ton of xmas cards.

    1. I think it is secure enought to throw the card in a card saver 1

2 Put it in the card then tape the card. And the cost is the same as a pwe.

    Try it some time.
  • I haven't had much of an issue lately, but I know that I keep the bubbler that it got mailed in to reuse later.

I blame part of it on eBay. They are pushing free shipping all of the time, and they have the DSR for shipping and handling charges. The pressure for low or zero shipping cost may be causing sellers to cut corners. My lowest DSR rating (4.8) is shipping and handling charges. I only charge $2.50 and that includes a padded bubble mailer, extra bubble wrap, delivery confirmation, and plenty of tape to make sure everything is sealed.

Agreed, with the ebay part especially. More fees, more costs everywhere. You have to make it up somewhere.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I received a card that looked like that in a bubble wrap. I guess it depends on the handling,
but I would never ship in anything but a bubble wrap envelope.

I received a bubble mailer today....but the sender saved on shipping by not putting any postage on it.
Somehow it made it to me without postage due!

A few PWEs, but I've been getting re-used bubble mailers which I don't mind.
Many of them are 6 X 10 that they cut in half and just tape up all the sides.
