What current stuff will hold its value?

When i was littlei alway used to get a topps football set for christmas of that year.. looking back.. it looks like the wax boxes are worth much more than the sets.. It seems like the industry has changed and the focus is really on the auto inserts rather than regular rookies.. what do you guys think is a good gift around 100 bucks that will hold its value over time.. i was buying topps factory sets.. but they seem to drop quite a bit in value the year or 2 after they come out. thanks for any help

88 Donruss, their value is ZERO now. Unless someone pays me to take them off their hands, the value will remain the same

Can't go wrong with mid grade vintage T206's. You could pick up a
nice PSA 5 for around $100. I don't think that they will ever completely lose
their value. But be careful, they are like potato chips, you can't just buy one.
