Can a gold 92 Manny Ramirez be pulled from a pack?

I know there were two versions of the 92 Topps Manny Ramirez gold. Some of them have “Winner” stamped on the cards which I believe was a redemption card. My question is how were these cards distributed and can a gold Ramirez be pulled from a pack?

Yes, you can pull the regular gold from packs. The "Winner" cards were from a scratch off game within the packs. If you won the game you got a pack of gold "winner" cards.

Yes, it can. It would not be a "winner" stamped but an original stamped. But good luck, one probably every 400 boxes? or one every 200 boxes? Im not sure....I cant remember if there were 2 Gold or 4 Gold cards in a box.

The "winner" cards were only through the mail from the scratch off contest.

For a bit of history, the mail ins were not originally stamped as winners. Once Topps was getting killed with won scratch offs, they began to stamp them with "winner". You could use a flashlight and see through the scratch so you could win every time.

I have a 3 box rack case sitting here. How many gold cards can I expect to pull from a rack box?

Regular gold cards were available in factory set form as well as in packs.
I was about 14 years old when those came out and I remember opening several wax boxes and not pulling a regular gold card.

I was however, a whiz at the flashlight trick

I'm pretty sure I was the only 13 year old in America that didn't know about the flashlight trick. I remember my first Topps Gold card. Dave Burba.

I dont remember the racks, but I do remember that the jumbo packs from 92 had one gold per pack. The regular wax only had 1 or 2 per box if I remember correctly and the factory sets had 5 or 10 per set.

Apparently entire factory sets of gold cards were issued in 1992 which would have included a special card 793 Brien Taylor Autograph (limited to only 12,000!) and featured 4 player cards that replaced the checklist cards from the base set.

1992 Topps Traded also was issued in gold set form but was limited to 6000.

Both the complete regular and traded sets have a listed value of $75.

I remember the flashlight thing and convincing my parents to let me buy all the remaining packs of Topps that K-Mart had so that I could "beat the system". The "Winner" designation was a real letdown. I probably spent more than $75 on that endeavor - patience usually pays off.

jeez, I have tons of those singles somewhere at my parents house.

They came in see through cello packs when you redeemed the scratch off cards. I kept a pack with Brien Taylor on the back sealed.

If it makes you feel any better they quickly discovered the problem and switched to a different card stock that you couldn't see through. There was only a short time period you could cash in and live the high life in your Uncle Scrooge sized vault of Topps Gold booty.
