Rare Michael Jordan Card - I actually have this! (Picture now posted)

I was at my parent house a few weeks ago. We were going through a few things (mostly school stuff from when I was a kid that my mom has kept). I was a huge Michael Jordan fan. Well, I'm sure many of you remember the Michael Jordan: Come Fly With Me Video. I watched it so many times that I had it memorized. Well, inside the tape cover of that video came a "card" made of some sort of fabric. It looked like the cover of the video. I took that card and glued it to a school folder. I had forgotten about it until a few weeks ago when I saw it at my parents house. When I saw it, I still didn't think much about it - until just now. Take a look at this auction!

I have the same card, but unfortunately PSA will not grade it. They will pop up on ebay sometimes, but I have never seen one get that much money. Maybe now is the time to sell based on that auction. A few months ago one went for under $20 I think. Great memories. I do not think I could sell mine.

  • It's a nice card and a great find but I think a card with actual stats on the back is more appealling to collectors. IMO. Sorry, don't mean to rain on your parade.

Don't worry about that. Mine is glued to a folder. I don't think it would bring much anyway. I just thought it was neat.

I'm not sure about the "rare" part. There are probably cases of these unsold/unopened tapes, somewhere....

I was just going by what the auction said. That maybe why it went so high.

Lots of MJ cards go for ridiculous prices to buyers who aren't true collectors and don't really know what's up.

I'm not saying that's the case here, just throwing in my .02

I would not pay 375.00 for it. But that does not mean someone else
    wouldn't.

The seller spammed it up good and caught a fish.

We can all say what we want but apparently at least ONE person was willing to buy the card so it IS "worth" $375... or at least on this day was worth $375. Will be curious what the next one brings.

That card is an iron on, I think, and the back panel is a send away for a t-shirt. I would bet there are not as many as you might think out there. The edges tend to fray a little too because they are essentially cloth stickers. Someone I talked to on here has a few of them. Probably not worth $300+, but if PSA would start grading them I think the prices would rise.

Actually oddball "cards" to me a player collector are WAY more appealing then "regular" cards.

I think a big part of the appeal is the hunt and the thrill of finally getting it.

I agree I would much rather have an oddball /don't see ever card.

  • I'd put the value on it around $50 or so. The videos were massed produced and I'm confident that there are more than a few cases sitting in a warehouse somewhere. It's definitely a nice card to have as part of a Jordan collection.

I'd love to be the seller of it at 375.00

Dang it. That is one more card that I need for my Jordan collection!

Funny thing is I still have that video but I don't remember getting that card in mine image

Well, I now have it in my possession. I forgot about the drawing. I used to doodle and draw a little bit when I was in school.

Anyway, now I'm trying to decide if I want to leave it or try to get it off. I am also trying to decide if I am going to keep it or sell it. I will probably try to get it off, put it in a top loader, and keep it. It probably wouldn't bring much because of the condition on the front, even if I got it off clean.

    Here it is.

    Drum roll, please....
