Medieval experts: Is this a fake?

    Looks good to me! Plus there's wonderful old "crust" as well.

    I don't like it. The strike looks sharp in some areas but poor definition in others, nasty cleaning, perhaps bent and realigned, and the patina is just ugly. So, even if it is genuine I'd pass and wait for better, it won't be long - though it will probably cost more.

    I used to see these with some frequency back when I was searching for earlier Sicilian pieces, so I don't think they're all that r@re!, but it has been a while so perhaps they went up in price and are hoarded like so much else...

    A point in its favor - I have bought from that seller before, no problems. But that was more modern stuff. I can't say how experienced he is with medieval & ancients, but I have no reason to doubt him.
