Justice would have been served had he got stuck on 499 forever. After what he did in Milwaukee, he will get no congrats from me.

At this point, I'd be happy if the Mets made the playoffs before choking after the last two years...image

<<< Texas Governor’s Secession Talk Stirs Furor

Gov. Rick Perry has touched off a political uproar by expressing sympathy for Texans who want to secede from the United States. His comments have made him a darling of conservative radio hosts, a butt of jokes on television talk shows and a target of criticism from state Democrats. >>>

What did Sheffield do in Milwaukee?

He admitted intentionally making errors in the field to help him get out of town...

Phillies get 14 hits, had a 6 run lead, and blow the game.

yeah, congrats...... congrats on many of the steroid infested HRs, the deliberately blown plays, the arrogance, and the $30mil in Detroit for doing nothing.... i threw an all-out backyard bonfire grillout party when the Tigers released his worthless mug. the 'Shef' never makes it to the hall...... .....and with the D-Train and Todd Jones gone, we now stand a chance

Good job Gary....I never doubted this!

Shoulder surgery takes time to heal...last year was too soon to expect it to react optimally, but this year it should be healed and it sounds like it is. This is the road to more playing time and if Sheffield has more playing time, this will be a great season for him.

I wonder if his card prices spiked on ebay....wouldn't surprise me, though.

Sheffield is a worthless turd. It's a shame he found a job and was given the chance to get #500.

It makes me even more angry that he got it against the team who drafted him, paid him, and gave him his chance...only for him to purposely tank plays to force a trade. If he would have actually played to his ability back in the day, we might have had a chance in our division. He wouldn't have helped with homers because he was a spray hitter back in the day. The roids gave him that.

  • Why Sheff gets the passes he does is beyond me. He was busted with the same exact stuff that Bonds was, but, even worse, he actually admitted quitting on a team and making errors on purpose to make a trade happen. But now, somehow, he gets his 500th home run and the clowns at ESPN are saying he's a hall of famer.

What? How is his using of steroids any less impactful than Sosa, Bonds, and McGwire? Because he never hit 60, 70 home runs in a year and isn't the all time leader, so he's enough under the radar that passes by the wayside? How is his altering games to force a trade not worse than Pete Rose betting on games as a manager? I don't get it...where is the consistency?

People in the media are scared to say that for fear of being called racists by Sheffield.

Its good to see Sheffield in the line up more often now. His OPS is up at the level it should be already. Good numbers so far. Just keep it up and a wonderful season will sprout.

Sheffield is a complete idiot. He is a racist, a bigot, and he can't play baseball anymore either.

I have never despised any professional athlete more than Sheffield and I doubt I ever will.

F--- him and his meaningless record. He has zero chance of making the HOF.
