Think I may be sick. My 1948 Leaf Robinson may have been cracked.

So, I was getting ready to possibly sell my 1948 Jackie Robinson PSA 7, and was taking a closer look at it. The top of the PSA case is coming apart.
The entire top and down the sides to the bottom of the flip. I have never seen a cracked case, and never noticed this before. I think I may throw-up!

I bought this one year ago from a seller (carrie-star) who is still on ebay and still has 100% feedback. What should I do? I paid $2000 for it! I am unemployed and needed to sell this as my unemployment is running out pretty soon.

    Get it re holdered?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • It may just be a mechanical issue with the seal of the holder. I have had two PSA cases (and SGC) come partially apart in the past. I walked them through at a show to get reholdered. This way PSA/SGC could see the holder as is without further separation occuring in transit. Good luck.

I sure hope this is what is going on! I have never heard of this happening to the holders before. And I can't believe that this seller did this since they sell lots of high end cards and have perfect feedback. I am feeling better and may just have to send it back to PSA. I am up n Seattle and don't think they come to any shows up here.

So this is the first time you have noticed it? It sounds to me like the seal was probably fine and then popped after you got it. I'm pretty sure you would have noticed it if it was like that when you got it.

  • Yes, this is the first time i noticed it, but I really had to look closely, really I felt the separation more than saw I saw it. I had noticed that the flip had the slight dark area in the "L" in the word LEAF.

I almost never take it out of my display case, so I that is why I may have not seen it until now.

Examine the card. Does it appear to be a legitimate undoctored PSA 7? If so have it reholdered as others have said.

  • Do you have to be a PSA member to get a card reholdered? I am not.

I'm usually the last to jump on the conspiracy theory bandwagon, but the top 2 corners in your scan don't look 7-like at first glance, but I'm hoping it's the scan.

No, you do not. I had a card reholdered last year. Just pay the reholder fee and shipping fee.
    Looking for Carl Willey items.
  • It looks like a 7 for a 48 Leaf card. Just get it reholdered, hopefully they'll do it, if not, then you'll just have to get it regraded. You really should try to hit a show PSA is at.

The case may have been twisted or bent slightly somewhere along the way. I've cracked a few PSA cases that just about fell apart. They were low dollar cards, so it just happens.
