SERIOUSLY, If Not For The PSA Registry, Would Checklists Simply Be $2.00 Cards?

Seriously, if not for the PSA Registry, would checklists simply be $2.00 cards? I think this every time I see a checklist sell for mad $$$, like this 1986 Fleer Checklist Basketball PSA 10 that ended with a high bid of $809.99.

I can just imagine this scene ...

Card collector: Can I see your 1986 Fleer Basketball Cards?

Mom and pop card store owner: Sure. What are you looking for? Jordan? Magic? Bird? Barkley?

Card collector: No. I have all those. I'm looking for the checklist to the set.

Mom and pop card store owner: Really?! I haven't been able to sell those in years. I have a 500 count box of that card in the back. You can have them all for $20.00.

Card collector: Thanks, I'll take them all (thinking that if just one graded a PSA 10).

I've always thought they were cool, but then again, sometimes I like the card wrappers more than the cards inside. I'd drive it up a little past 2 dollars, but stop somewhere severely shy of the $800 mark!

i think that is ahy they are valuable, kids used to just throw them out or in the older days mark them off as they got a player so a nice mint checklists are tough to find. everybody kept the jordans but the checklists not so much and i think the centering on those,, maybe be cause of their placement on the sheet, is hard to find nicely centered.

The 86 Fleer CL has always commanded good money in high grade, even before professional grading. It's bottom corner card on the sheet and is almost always OC and often has PD's.
