When pronouns referring to the God of the Holy Bible are used in a sentence, the first letter should be capitalized, such as He, Him, His, etc., (as Doogy and JZ correctly typed) since it refers to Deity. The 1849 florin omitted the words Dei Gratia ("by the grace of God") from the coin's inscription, so it is commonly known as the "godless" florin.

thanks guys! I'll have to have some real pictures taken when it arrives. These lifeless Heritage scans don't do it justice i'm sure (like most of Heritage's scans)

Doug, That's a very nice coin that you've got there.I've got one of those in one of the bottom grades, but, still,it is a pretty scarce coin. The variety with the 'W.W.' missing behind the head is very scarce.
Talk about a historic coin - the 'Godless' Florin is similar to the Gothic Florin, apart from the plain lettering,& the date being expressed in normal numbers,as opposed to the complicated Roman numerals on the Gothic Florin.
As for being underpriced, that is one heck of a major understatement.

I've always loved the design and yours is a lovely example Doug.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
This probably had the same outcry as when the US Mint left off the IGWT motto from the edges of the new Presidential $$.
Anyone have any contemporary accounts of the "Event" in the UK press?
