ANA National Money Show WITH RESULTS AND PICS

If anyone is heading for the Money Show in Portland, Oregon this weekend then please meander through the exhibit area to visit my "Ludwig Gies: Cast Art Medals from "The Great War" display. I've put together five display cases exhibiting 18 of Gies' medals which are all R-7 and R-8 rarity. Several pieces have been 'rediscovered' and haven't been seen since 1916. It's my first attempt at exhibiting but I think if you visit you'll be pleasantly surprised.

The show opens Friday at 10:00am and closes at 2:00 on Sunday.

Hope to see you there.

It's all set up... Made a run over to Portland today and got the display set up. Exhibit #28. I think it turned out quite nice actually. I'll try to get some pics when I go back over on Saturday and Sunday.

What can I say for my first attempt at exhibiting in a National show, and against 37 other excellent exhibits? It was fun, a learning experience, and now I'm hooked. I just hope it gets easier with display construction with each show I enter.

The quality of the pics is so-so but you'll get the picture.

    Very nice, Scott. Congratulations.
  • Congrats on the best in show!!!

I was a little disappointed in the show. I did not find much that interested me and found many of the dealers in a less than jaunty mood, although I did hear one dealer say that they had the best show ever...I think that was an exception.

I'd say you did a good job! Looks good from here, as about opposite sides of the country as possible!

Hi Chris. There were claims of 10,000 in attendance to the exhibits and show which seems to be a good figure considering the economy. Probably a lot of people just looking as opposed to buying. In honesty, I never went across the divider into the bourse...I couldn't afford to because I'm finishing up on a Goetz family deal for all of Karl's apprenticeship and Paris Period design books that have never been seen before.

I saw the exhibit in person. IMHO, the "Best in Show" award was well deserved. Congrats!

    Looks great! image

I'll second Cathy's comments, but I really hope I'll be in driving distance when you put that one together!

And I continue to be amazed by your Goetz acquisitions. Simply leagues above and beyond what the casual collector can even comprehend! Your passionate study is a true service to the field of numismatics. So congrats on that as well, and here's hoping the process continues to work itself out smoothly.
