Question about paper loss

What is the guidelines on paper loss with PSA. How about paper loss on the reverse, the size of a pinhead. What say folks?

    I'd believe any detectable paper loss would knock the card down to a PSA 5.

    I believe it actually knocks it down to a 2

    not the size of a pin head though.. you will be ok..
    I had a psa 8 clemente.. that had a little "blemish"
    like a printing bubble right on his forehead.. you wouldn't see it if I didn't tell you it
    was there.. it looked like it was on him.. you could see it before it was graded though..
    just as a break in the gloss.. like a period on a paper..

    This is on the back and is about the size of a pinhead. There was something the size of a pinhead stick to the card and when I scratched it off, the paper under it came off too. So, oakes, this card without the loss would grade a 6 I think. Do you think I will be safe with the paper loss, as minuscule as it is?

    If I understand the size of paper loss your talking about I would say a 4 or a 5.

    Just got back a 48 Leaf that looks like a psa 7-8 with tiny papr loss and it came back a 2. I think if it looks perfect other than the tiny paper loss leave it raw. You will get more for it selling it raw than graded.

    How tiny was the spot? The one I have is slightly bigger that a grain of salt.

    Paper Loss is really among the worst defects.

    You have to get very deep into the bottom of the PSA
    number list to even see it addressed.

    The stamp guys (PSE) have a highly evolved system that
    allows collectors to FULLY understand the grading process.

    (You don't have to download anything. You can scroll down through
    the booklet to see how detailed the system is.)

    In the future, maybe PSA will produce a similar guide.

    If the "paper loss" is really just the size of a "pinhead," I suppose
    there is always the slim chance that it might not be noticed by a
    fast-working grader.

    (Pinhead pl can sometimes be doctored away, but the card will be
    rejected as "altered" if the repair is found.)

    Another possible solution might be for PSA to add a new Q that
    notes pl, but it would not enhance the value of the card; only
    give more info about the general condition of the card.

    (7s and 8s would not then come back as 2s, as was noted to
    have happened above.)
