What do you think of the color? AT? images enhanced to show color? Note: I do not blame the selller for listing the coin, this is not a knock on the seller in anyway, the coin is graded by a leading TPG. This is for educational purposes only.

I'd be more inclined to believe it's NT, with juiced images. I've seen those colors before on Canadian coins, and the way the fingerprints show seem to indicate a natural process.

I think it's an unattractive coin. AT or not, there are no subtle colour layers, just some electric blue splashed a la Jackson Pollock ,that makes the fingerprints come out more vividly.

Good point on the fingerprint newsman. I'm also thinking NT with imaging to show the color.

I agree with Syracsian, either way I'm not a fan.

My first thought was of Devo:

When a problem coin comes along
You must Dip it
Before them colours set too long
You must Dip it
When somethings going wrong
You just Dip it

Edit: And I'm really not a dip fan...

The price is crazy high, but the color looks legit to me.

Here's one (raw) in my collection, picked from my local dealer's melt bag.

Similar obverse and reverse toning.

It depends on if the colors are neon. If the coin does not have the skin for a coin that age, but has brilliant coloring then I would say that it is AT.

Fingerprints on coins bother me. I do not care how pretty the coin is or what kind of grade they have. When I see random spots like the pattern that this coin has, it puts the image in my head of someone sneezing on the surface of the coin.

There are finger prints in the same place on both sides where the toning is lightest. To me it looks as though the coin was held with a pair of tongs at about 2 o'cloch then heated over a gas flame.

I'm inclined to agree with Gazza. While I generally agree with newsman the nature of these just seem a bit odd. And the seller's pics definitely look a bit "enhanced".

Gazza's post caused me to think twice, though I wonder what kind of pain tolerance one must have to hold a coin over an open flame long enough to tone it. Don't forget that silver is one of the best conductors of heat among metals.

Still, it is an ugly coin and definitely not worth $650.

I think it is NT but not worth the premium.

It is a $100 coin. Sorry, but I write what I think.

And for the record, I doubt Jackson Pollock would like it. I think he would like the one posted by Coinpictures... even I like it

I find the fingerprints too distracting. OTOH, saving the pix as a classic example of why one should handle raw collectible coins properly.

Then maybe you should start collecting toned coins with fingerprints. I am sure that you could put together a nice collection. I would say that if you wanted to put

together a slabbed coin collection with fingerprints you would have a harder time doing so.

edited to add:

If that particular coin was not in a slab, then you would probably pass it by. Buy the coin, not the slab. JMHO.

It's NT and the photos are in no way "enhanced". Take a look at the shot of the coin in the slab, or at some of the other items we have for sale; I'd say that about 95% of our images are about as true-to-life as is possible to achieve via photography.

As far as the price goes, it's obviously pretty high, but like all of our items, the price continues to drop over time. Make an offer!

disruptek, thanks for chimming in on this. I assume it is your coin. After seeing coinpictures coin I can now see that your coin can look like it does.
