    I used to have a collection of specimen canadian dollars and a complete set of type sovereigns. It looks like we both have the same tastes in foreign coins. I prefer my coins blast white though. That was a good price on the sovereign the other day. You can throw away the sheets on these coins Bidask.image

    With respect to 1939 Canadian Dollars, "Matte" is a relative term. Consider the piece below.

    Unfortunately, I don't know this issue well enough to give a definitive answer the OP.
