Need opinions very fast please, is this card trimmed?? Maris signed rookie

I'm considering dropping a significant amount of $$ on this one in the next twenty five minutes. Please look and tell me if you think its trimmed. Specifically, the area of concern for me is the right hand border from the front. I can't tell if its the orientation in the holder or not.

Thanks!!

Mike

I see your area of concern -- but it does not appear trimmed to me. Scans make it hard to tell sometimes -- but it is definitely not blatantly trimmed....
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

not sure.. fits well in the holder.. top right corner worries me..
I would say overall looks good and may not be.. but it is always hard from a scan

Here's a way to look at it...when he died, was card trimming even that prevalent?

I suppose, but why would you risk a big $$ card but trimming it. He died Dec 14, 1985. I can't imagine trimming was HUGE before the late 80's. And he probably signed it a couple years before his death.

If I was smart, I wouldn't even try trimming a card like that. Wouldn't be worth the risk.

Not sure how that matters but back in the mid 80's people were trimming cards then.

I remember a guy who had a shop in Hartsdale NY and he would trim cards.

I had a shop back then and the guy who had the store north of mine seemed

to worry about trimming back then.

    Steve and Bill,

What do you think? If you had to lean one way, trimmed or not?

Wow, it's a moot point for me now. I bid $1558.00 and still lost. Oh well, maybe next time.

Why did the owner not get the card graded?

Maybe because of the little stain at the top.

Maybe because the card is a little short.

The wave may just be the scan.

I would buy it as an autoed card; nothing more.

THAT does NOT mean it is trimmed.

    I dunno.

    Mike,

As the saying goes ... "things happen for a reason".

I hope you find one with a better looking sig .... personally, I didn't care for that one.

And with the ? of trimming etc, I think you'll be happier when you finally DO win one.
