Matte Proof Lincoln's for the week of 2-9

Now that the auction dust has settled I will kick out the list a bit early. This will also facilitate the travel schedule I am on for the next couple of weeks so expect next’s weeks list to be done before the19th.

Looks like we not only have a strong list of 44 Mattes, it’s a COMPLETE date list with a VDB showing up at Heritage for the Baltimore Auction! Since this is a 63 red and brown example, I think it is safe to say the bidding will be strong as it will be in a lower price range. But the range between a 63 and 64 is almost $30,000! Who knows what it will sell for?

Speaking of selling, I had a most unpleasant encounter with a Dealer from North Carolina this past weekend who attended our local South Carolina quarterly show. Since I had not seen him there before I scoured his cases the best I could while he had his paperwork spread all over them busily selling bullion while hawkers came buy shouting buy and sell prices of gold they were evidently gathering for him. Low and behold, I see a NGC 63 BRN 1910 Matte between his papers in the case. But I had to wait about 15 minutes before I could approach him due to his busy work. Our conversation went like this; "I see you have a 1910 matte" Dealer not looking at me but shuffling paper. "Yes, and I have a 1913" Oh really, well I post a weekly list of MPL's for sale on the PCGS forums and if you tell me your asking prices and contact information, I would like to list them for you" "Get out of here!"
So I took his advice and just walked away as I had already spent too much time on this jerk. Here is hoping your next Matte purchase is a pleasant experience.

1912 PCGS PR64BN. Was NGC 65BN. I think it is still a 65. Super luster and no carbon. $1750

1915 PCGS PR63BN. Very fine woodgraining. Small carbon spot near LIBERTY accounts for the grade. Probably the toughest date to find. $1750

Wow that 63RB 09 continues to make the rounds.

I paid $625 for it a year and a half ago.

Now its listed at twice that.

Let's be positive here. The support of all coins in the series at all grades is good for all of us. Let's keep the negativity towards stuff that has been misrepresented, cleaned, etc.
