What is this One Penny token worth?

I have this one penny token that I have posted before and I have not been able to find any info on it. I have someone interested and wanted to know what a fair price to offer it for.
Do they go for $20-$30? Or is that too much? Thanks. -Dan

Hey man, I'm not sure if this will help you any but while searching for some prices for you I ran across this page. TONS AND TONS of information on these types of tokens... and I mean TONS...

It's a Irish token out of Londonderry. Larry Gale/Jerry Bobbe of Cheapside Tokens on VCoins sold a nicer one than yours for $19 Link

There may be variations to the token, I do not have either of the standard references (Davies or Withers), nor do I have the Bell book on Commercial Tokens of this period to know if that is the case. On reference I found online lists this token as scarce.

Thanks guys! That was very helpful. I hate selling anything without knowing a little something about it. I was offered more than the token is worth and just wanted to be fair to both of us. -Dan
  • Dan,
Thank you for doing that.I will be getting your cash & International Reply Coupon posted off to your postal address before this week is out.

I'm sure that we can work out something as far as the change goes.

Once this arrives in my letterbox, this will be my first coin from Ulster (Northern Ireland).

Yes,a trader's currency token is classed as being a coin, albeit,an unofficial one.

Did someone try and punch a hole in this token? There appears to be a hole above the N in ONE and a bump near Britney's head.
  • Bob,
Yes,that is the case.It doesn't really matter,as it is going to fill another gap in my collection, despite the condition.I have never had any traders' currency tokens from Ulster turn up over here in New Zealand, despite the fact that both Ulster & New Zealand have mainly Scots-descended populations,as does Nova Scotia.
