With the British Pound down 35% against the US Dollar, are you loading up on British coins?

All of the sudden, British looks cheap to those of us using dollars. Are you taking advantage of the situation? I can't wait for my next trip to London!

I've picked up a couple of pieces in the last month or so, and just did a deal with a UK delear, the pile should be here in a week or two. The new batch are all raw and nothing really rare, it includes a 1819 Shilling, 1887 1/2 p, 1903 penny, and a bunch of George V Farthings, all uncirculated supposedly. It's nice they are 30% cheaper just on the exchange rate, and some dealers want to move quantities.

short answer, yes. I've purchased a dozen or so nicer British pieces in the past two months alone.

here is a good example. I just bought this coin today, to go toward my George IV Farthing set. A few months ago, this coin was nearly $200 because of the exchange rate (100 British pounds). Now, it sits at $136, which is a just a hair higher than the Krause UNC price of $125.

Andy: Here is a new British Coin purchase that I made from the recent Heritage World Coin Auction held in NY. I have not yet received the coin, but am looking forward to examining it in person (Heritage has been very slow to ship it image).

I note very few coins up for sale in the Vicky, Ed7, G5 and G6 series (bronze/copper and silver) that are higher grade.

Stuart, if we are not too crude, what did that crown go for?

Another thing is that I haven't really seen a downward deflection in prices of coins sold here & the really upmarket bits are still going for big money = like the Tokyo sale and the Gold Gothic, E8 sov, etc.

Yes, very fair price. I still need to get a similar 1847 of the ordinary type. I think the prices of these in Unc. had gotten too high and time for adjustment.
