A good day at the office (NEWPS)

The postal workers were kind to me today, I had the following show up at the office.

1723 SS&C Shilling (C over SS variety). This one in NGC 63, some plain looking gray toning on the obverse with strong luster underneath, the reverse with some pale green rim toning at the upper rim.

This 1913 E Saxony Leipzig Battle Commemorative fits nicely in the German set I started on, although I'm not sure what the set is yet. This one has very strong luster also with nice original surfaces, in NGC 63.

And this one fits into my "oh isn't that a pretty coin" set. 1883 Argentine 10 C in NGC 63, much flashier in hand than the images.

I have got to quit buying stuff for that last set.

very nice Jeff, especially the ole' Georgie Sr. Shilling! That piece looks lighter than the pics you posted on Hus's site; does it look like that in hand?

*ahem*......so based on the 2009 goals that someone wrote, where does the last two fit in? image I'm thinking the new German may have to fit in to a "yet to be developed" theme, but is the latter coin a victim of line item number 5 ? image

    1. Find a 1775 British Halfpenny in 63 or better to finish the set.
    2. Finish the Geo. V penny set in 65 or better.
    3. Work on developing some theme to the German crap I've been buying.
    4. Find affordable but attractive Charles II and James II shillings.
    5. Stop buying random stuff just because it's pretty.

Ok, I darkened the shilling up so thats a little better match. The images on Huss's site were the sellers pics, tiny little images that I had tried to increas in size.

The German piece works for me. I now officially collect German, even if there isn't a theme yet. Wait, there is a theme, all the German pieces I have are silver. So if I can stay away from copper and gold I'll have a theme now.

Yes I have no self control, hence the need to start a "Oh, isn't that a pretty coin" set. Actually I blew number 5 on January 2nd so I knew that wasn't going to work out for me.

you'll get no complaints from us! at least you're not in denial, the first step is admitting you have a problem (although this is a good problem to have!)

Congrats, nice NEWPS. The shilling is a very nice example of a C over SS variety.

Congrats on your purchases. I'm pretty sure I used to own that George I Shilling, sold it
to Jester and he had it slabbed.

I like the set. I image you were not very productive the remainder of the day.
