Forgive me, for I have sinned.

I fell prey to the UHR Double Eagle US Mint Monsterimage

Me too ... but I flipped mine on the bay. I've been paid already, and the Mint won't charge my cc until they ship. I'll clear about $360 net after fees if/when it shows up! image

It is a very nice looking coin. I'll be looking out for one too in the future.

Had a 1907 back in the 80's. The profit I made on it, paid for this one.image

I confess that I don't really understand what the fuss is about these.

I had to look up what UHR was image (ultra high relief, for those who don't know)

So the mint is adding a NEW AND IMPROVED! lemony-fresh scent to something old?

Still, that's one of the good ones from the Lightside image

No need to wonder. It's just like you can't expect everybody to be enthusiastic on what you collect.

But, but, everyone should be enthusiastic about what I collect. It's a continuing mystery why people aren't.

I like the design, but I'm not too excited about the coin being so thick. It just looks odd to me.

I too do not get the thickness. It does look odd. One thing I do like the look of is the date: MMIX.
  • It's a multi-purpose coin:

Why is 'In God We Trust' on the coin? Didn't the original one have it omitted per TR's instructions?

It is to easily tell it from the future fakes that will come out from China that says "In Gold We Trust". image

On a more serious note (from the US Mint): "The original Saint-Gaudens’ coin plasters were digitally mapped and the ultra high relief sculpture was updated to reflect the year 2009 in Roman numerals (MMIX), an additional four stars were added to represent the last four states admitted to the Union and the inscription IN GOD WE TRUST, which was not on the 1907 version, was added, along with a small border to provide a more consistent edge. Featured on the raised edge-lettering of the coin is the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM with the letters separated by stars."
