Doesn't look like BBCE has any right now.

I would like to know also

Quite a range on boxes, but anywhere from $11K to $13K depending on grade.
  • I haven't followed them lately. Have there been any cases discovered in the last few years. Dealers like Dave and Adams use to advertise when they found a case.

But they've been pretty steady, $9-13k in the 2000's.

100% no question clean boxes bring 10-11.5k

I thought on the BBCE blog he said that they found some boxes on the latest trip out east.

"There was some 86 Fleer basketball boxes, some 79/80 Toppp hockey boxes, a run of Topps baseball vending cases from 1977 on up. There also was a sealed case of 1989 Score football wax. There was some 1990 Leaf cases and some other interesting items. It didn't have much post 1992, except for some 2001 cases with Pujhols and 2000 cases of football with Tom Brady. Hopefully we can get all this stuff up on the website next week."

    don't do it brother!!!!!

take money you'd spend on unopened cardboard and build a nice graded or raw set.

rolling dice w/ that kind of dough can be unproductive.

I completely agree. Let people with more money than sense rip the packs, then buy the cards from them.
  • I say we make this a group rip. Gary has a GAI 9 box for sale.

Who would buy a box for that much money when you could probably put together a PSA set with like a 9.5 GPA for the same dough. Yeah, there may be 3-4 sets in a box, but no way will you get a full mint set with the way centering varies. And even if you got 4 PSA 8 quality Jordans, you would have a really hard time making your money back, right?

I'm not a follower of the prices for this set so I may be off on this one, but it seems like a sure losing bet unless you pull a PSA 10 Jordan.
  • It's hard to say with 1986/87 Fleer. You may be better off buying PSA 9 commons for about $7 each, try and get a few of the rookies for a cheap price. After, take a shot 5 "graded packs" at a time, for a Jordan. I got mine in two! It was off-center but damn, it was sharp all around. The risk you take buying a full box(if it's legitimate) is the run is off-center. I'm actually trying to build a graded set from wax. Condition isn't an issue with it, just the fact that it was built by me, from wax. Wow, I sound hypocritical there!
  • The price of the box is based on speculation that you will get at least 3 Jordans and one will be a PSA 10 or at least have 2 PSA 9's and some minty fresh low pop commons.

It's just the gamble factor. People who are willing to spend over 10K on a box are gambling that they'll pull out a 3-4 perfect Jordans. Also, it's my understanding that most boxes are consistently centered throughout the box, so the entire box could be either perfectly centered or could be completely OC. People with that kind of money are gambling on getting a perfectly centered box, when the odds arent really that great that it will happen.

I think it's pretty much the same gamble as opening any product would be, only on a much, much larger monetary scale.

Maybe the people who buy a box of 1986 Fleer are just buying it to keep unopened/intact.

Not everyone who buys a box of 86 Fleer wants to rip and find Jordan.

If I ever bought a box I'd leave the packs unopened and buy myself a PSA 10 Jordan.

Love the "NO Paypal on this one" statement in the auction listing even though it shows the Paypal logo.

that guy (appears) to have some really nice raw cards for sale on his e-bay storefront.

but you can also buy the same cards in slab the 8 or 9 attached to it for a couple more bucks...

I smell it too...that box is searched for sure. I did report it for the Paypal violation. I would hate to see someone buy that and then have no recourse.

Even if it's legit... $15k for a box!? Come on that's just straight GAMBLING. Take your $15k to Vegas if you really like gambling that much. I am sure your odds of monetary success are MUCH better on the craps table than in the '86 Fleer boxes!

My #1 question is how can Steve at BBCE guarantee these boxes haven't been searched through?

I have bought some rare unopened packs from Steve before and I do trust his word.

But if I were to spend $10,000 for one of those boxes I'd have to be 110% sure its authentic/unopened.[

As a reference point, I put my 1986-87 Fleer PSA 9 set together including stickers for $3468.70 with a GPA on the regular set at 9.01 and a GPA on the stickers at 9.0. I did pick up the Lucas for $12.95 where as it typically sells for about $160ish so I have approximately $150 less into my set than I would have if I paid market price on the Lucas card.

Doc where's the delorean when you need it. In 1986 I paid .50 a pack for the 86 fleer basketball. I must have bought 20 + packs built 1-1/2 sets and had 2 Jordans. Sold the set in 91 for $350 and traded my second Jordan for a Gatorade Jordan in the same year. You can say I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I see new 86 Fleer packs on his site but no boxes.

Wonder if he sold them already?

He only got one box which he is packing out (I purchased 3 packs from that box). Apparently he will be hitting the seller up for the other boxes in round two. I will probably be buying one of the full boxes when he gets them.
