I just put a bid of $17,000 for the 1869 Peck & Snyder Cincinnati Red Stockings card recently discovered. I was promptly outbid. At least I can tell my grandkids now that I was in the running for one of the best baseball cards in existence.

Yeah I watched it last night. She pretty much said what was written in the article posted a while ago. They showed it in the PSA holder and that was about it.

There is alot of hype going with this card. It's a cool story of her find, but the card is not as rare and the hype os over blown. There are far more rarer cards. I know someone who has had one for sale for awhile now with no bites.

Yeah, I watched Leno. I keep on hearing that the card is "the first baseball card made". I'm not sure how someone proves that, but I'm assuming they mean that it is the earliest year that a baseball card has been discovered. Anyone, I can tell you it is worth more than $17,000. I'm guessing with all of the publicity it will go for over $500,000.

Yeah, I caught the Leno show too. Too bad she didn't put up a BIN of $9.95. Someone would have been really happy to get that submission back from PSA. It is wishful thinking that it would go for 1 million, although very possible if it was PSA 8 or 9. With all the hype surrounding it, and the condition it is in, I can see it going for 150K-180K. Maybe someone should start a contest thread for it.

Here is an email from the reporter in Fresno who wrote the story. This link goes to the 2nd article he wrote. This is in reply to my contacting him at the paper and asking that he have her talk to the major auction houses instead of ebay. I guess I wasn't the only one with this suggestion...

The Leno segment was more about the lady than the card. I think they only zoomed in on the card for about two seconds, or something like that.

It's a cool story about how she found it and almost sold it for peanuts, but they could have done a little more in actually showing the card.
