Print Population

Does anyone have any resources that estimate how many cards were printed by a given maker in a given year?
Thanks

  • You can usually tell by using numbered inserts, the print run,the odds that they fall at and how many cards in the set.

What set(s) are you looking for?

If vintage, there is some info on some sets , ie. T206, E145-1, E145-2 (Cracker Jacks), etc..

I'm specifically looking for 1989 Fleer Basketball. Yes, sad I realize, but as a hobby, I am collecting as many 1989 Fleer Reggie Millers as possible. I'm up to about 1300 right now. Just trying to see if I can corner the market on a card.

The print run was only 900. Looks like you may have some backdoored copies a la 1993 Finest Refractors

I would guess that since the set is so small, the print run would easily be well over 1,000,000.

God love you, sir. I honestly wish you the best, but I have to say that this needs to get serious consideration for the greatest thread of 2009. When I read this I laughed so hard I almost choked on my own spit.

I've tilted at a few hobby windmills myself, so I'm certainly in no position to pass judgment. But this really is a truly awesome endeavor.
  • lots and lots.

Boopotts, I feel honored for the nomination. About 3 years ago, I saw a lot of 300 of these cards being auctioned. I think I won the auction for $10. Ever since, if I see a lot of over 20 being sold on eBay, I snatch it up. I think I've invested about $85 in this endeavor. Well, based on this info I've received, in about 850 years, I should have the market cornered.
