What happens if you just dont pay ??
I am thinking about just not paying on an E-bay auction, I've had enough of sellers ripping me a new anus when it comes to shipping.
Why in the hell would it cost $10.50 to ship four raw cards ??? Are they going to put them in a flat rate box or something ?
And this is from one of the biggest sellers on E-bay, One of the beloved banner sponsors on the top of the page.
Screw it, Keep you cards !

I'm sorry this happened to you.
Steve
get a strike. If it is your first ebay will take it away.
I've only done it once (I was in the hospital) got a neg and a strike. The strike was erased from my record
the negative is on my buying account so I could care less. I really wanted that item too.
Steve
Or better yet, file an item not received as described when i get a bubble mailer with $2 worth of postage on it. Saying this isnt the item I won, because I paid $10.50 for shipping.
I think he is just frustrated. IMO the seller probably touted combined shipping then took off a buck on each
auction won.
Steve
It's at least worth asking, if they tell you no discount then don't buy from them again.
I think most people would agree that the seller's shipping rate is ridiculously high, but exactly what did you think the seller was likely to do?
Were you expecting a discount? Was a multiple-win discount implied anywhere within the shipping terms?
With what little info that you've given us about the auction/cards etc, it's hard to side with you in this matter.
This is a bit disturbing ..... "Or better yet, file an item not received as described when i get a bubble mailer with $2 worth of postage on it. Saying this isnt the item I won, because I paid $10.50 for shipping." Hopefully, you're just venting.
Simply ignore future auctions that charge exuberant shipping charges, regardless of the cards involved.
If you're upset with anybody, maybe it should be yourself. Sometimes, we have to be critical of ourselves. Put the blame where it belongs and then laugh it off. Ask yourself, "what was I thinking when I agreed to pay $10.50 for shipping for 4 raw cards?"
Personally, I'd pay the seller and once I receive my package, I'd send feedback and give a sincere DSR rating for shipping costs ... and then move on.

Good morning Steve. That was a joke actually. The only thing I have against Barry is his man crush for Eli Manning.
Barry, you should buy from me. I don't charge for shipping. I just charge extra for the cards

I'm not going to do anything irrational, I've been on E-bay and these boards long enough to know better, and should have known better.
When I get the cards I will leave positive feedback and a low dsr rating. No big deal.

That and the fact you were riding a Barbie bike, You were asking for it.
(2) buy a $9.00 card, and pay $1.00 shipping
There's no difference between (1) and (2).
If the combined cost (in this case, $10) is too much, then just don't bid.

Nice theory but will usually get reported for eBay fee avoidance or excessive shipping.
Ebays entire system is kind of based on an ego thing. We all want high feedback numbers, but in the end, what the he[/]ll does it matter if you're a buyer? And if a seller leaves a neg, he can risk getting a retaliatory neg (and the hassle of getting it removed). It's kind of like that scene in one of those Clint Eastwood movies where there are three guys in a triangle, each pointing a gun at one of the others. One guy is the buyer, one guy is the seller, and one guy is Ebay. But in the end, who cares since the guns are all full of blanks, anyway?

That's true, but I was looking at it from the buyer's point of view.

I feel your pain... as an honest ebay seller who does not over charge for shipping I really hate sellers like the one you described. Ebay has silly rules for everything else why not just control shipping rates with everything else.
don't bid. Im amazed the demands that buyers and ebay has....ebay tells us that its better to sell items when shipping is free...ahh ok, buyer likes that
and of course ebay likes that but the seller takes the loss AND pay fees! Buyers want fast services and the cards packed well, but can't understand
whey they have to pay a that whopping 3 dollars on shipping, sometimes after spending 100+ on the card!
I have never been one to try to make money on shipping, so perhaps I don't see the problem, but you always have the option of not bidding on an item. Ebay
caters to the buyers cause thats the only way they make real money. Sucks for sellers but that is the way it is...if you bid on realize that you accept the
shipping charges!

I have used "FREE" shipping since before it was "fashionable."
I have never lost a dime on it. The costs of doing biz are built
into the item price; the end-user pays ALL expenses. That is
how biz works.
...
I still have NO clue as to how to make my scheme work on low-priced
auction items. Works great on BINs, though.
for many large volume ebay sellers, shipping is indeed part of their "profit structure". Trying to find those 4 raw cards elsewhere, got to cost you more than the $10.50 combined shipping the Seller is charging you.
So with a 'grain of salt', just 'grin and bare it' with the rest of us (suckers) hobbyists!
Pleeeeze pay them! ...And enjoy your new material ('shipping sticker shock' will ware off soon!).

What is realistic shipping costs for a couple of raw cards? $2? $3? $4? How much would it take before you thought the seller was gouging on a fee? What if everyone who bid on an item, knowing the shipping cost in advance, decided NOT to pay? Is doing that really being the better person?
I agree that the shipping costs here may be a little high, but were they not displayed? Do you go to Kroger, pick up a few steaks and then get to the counter to pay and try to now negotiate a new price? Why should ebay be any different?
I guess the point I am trying to make is many times I have seen many people on this board say, "Hey, check out this card I got at half SMR/VCP", did you complain to the seller that the price was too low? Of course not. If the shipping is displayed properly and you agree to it by bidding, you pay it, period. If you feel its a gouge, then you dont bid, period.
Figure the shipping into the price. Remember, the real evil here is ebay. Many sellers are trying to recoup some of their many fees from Feebay and Feepal.
