is Kurt Warner a HOFer?

He had those monster years a few years ago but never thought he is a HOF-caliber QB. But it seems like he is making a strong case right now.

Mike, maybe you would like to add this Warner auto rc to your hofer collection -

If he wins another Super Bowl, yes. Kurt Warner is the freakin' truth and if he gets time to throw in the Super Bowl, the Cardinals might shock the world!

  • Funny.

Is McNabb a hall of famer. Most would say yes.

Is Warner a hall of famer. Some would say no.

If the question was asked, who do you want quarterbacking your team in a superbowl, 85% would
    say Warner over McNabb.

I have to think his chances went up yesterday. Another Super Bowl win would certainly enhance his resume.

This same question was posed on a fantasy football board I subscribe to about 3 weeks ago, but also included discussion of McNabb's chances...

(I thought suprisingly) very few people thought that McNabb is/will be a HOF QB.

More people thought that Warner is/will be based on the strength of 2 Championship Rings.

I think taking the Cardinals (original NFL team) to their first Super Bowl has IRON CLAD LOCKED Warner into the Hall.

Because of the short careers in the NFL, doing well in the playoffs and winning Super Bowls really improves your chances. 2 MVPs and 3 trips to the Super Bowl will get Warner in depending on who is eligible with him.

Warner is the Joe Namath of the modern era. If he beats the Steelers, that will cement his legacy.

  • Warner already has enough statistical years to go with his post season success to get in the HOF. He wont be a first ballot, but eventually he'll get in.Now, if he wins the Super Bowl, I take that back, he goes in easily. These days in professional sports, it's a relief to see someone that has worked hard, swallowed their pride, and has been so successful. I have to admit, I felt sorry for him when Bulger replaced him in St. Louis. I was happy to see his veteran experience rub off on Eli in NY and was definitely disappointed when he was brought to Arizona to do the same with Leinart. He's was a great story for people when he became successful in St. Louis. He's done it again in Arizona. I'll be rooting for the Cards on Feb 1!

No quarterback has won the Super Bowl with two different teams. He is only the second quarterback to ever start for two different teams in the Super Bowl (Craig Morton being the other). No quarterback with three Super Bowl starts is NOT in the Hall of Fame. Kurt has two MVP awards. On the teams that Kurt has started for, has there been any point where another quarterback has come in and taken his place and done better? Nope. He has just too many positives to be ignored.

I don't have a signed rookie card, but I do have an index card he signed for me while at Northern Iowa and I have a media guide from that year as well. Probably not worth much, but I dig it.

  • Warner gets in... I know the HOF looks at stats, but Warner has been on two notorious (sp) bad franchises and took both to the super bowl... Another QB I think has a shot would be Kerry Collins, I just think his off field issue will hurt him.

If Warner wins the SB, a definite yes. If he loses, probably not, unless he gets another few years and makes some decent runs.

Another post brought up McNabb as a potential HoF....a big NO WAY. Too many other good QB's who had similar results that arent in. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of wins in big games or a long career of great stats. McNabb has neither at the moment. 10 years is not enough. If he was to win a SB, then I would say yes.

In addition to the 3 Super Bowl appearances and 2 MVP's Warner is already 5th on the all time list for 300 yard passing games. He only has 101 career starts but yet has more 300 yard passing games than Peyton Manning who has 176 career starts.

I'm pretty sure there are some "students of the game" who are going to fail this test. I've heard Namath mentioned in reference to Warner on multiple occasions and that's a pretty good example cross-generationally speaking. However, when KW has been given the helm, it is my opinion that he's been a much more efficient and statistically superior to Namath is almost every way. Not to mention many other HOF'ers and future HOF'ers. Between inheritance of shoddy teams, being beaten to heck and back his entire career, and sitting the sidelines on and off since the beginning, his numbers are impressive.

Warner is a HOF'er. And the outcome of the Super Bowl should have nothing to do with it. People saying if Arizona wins, he gets in, but if not, he doesn't? So if he goes 11 for 30 with 2 picks but they win 13-7, he's a HOF'er? What if he goes 25-32 with 4 TD and they lose?

    3 4000 yd seasons
    3 30 TD seasons
    better than 2:1 TD:INT ratio
    8.0 YPA career
65% completion ratio career (combined with 8.0 YPA, means he throws deep AND accurately; a very, very, very rare combination)
    93.8 career passer rating
    3 Super Bowls
    2 MVPs

When healthy, Warner has put up passer ratings of 85 or greater every year of his career.

He deserves to be in the HOF.

With this win, I'd say yes...plus he's a stand up family guy with great character, and his comeback story will definitely appeal to the voters.

    Yes.

The Steelers, while a good team, I personally would not compare then to the likes of the Baltimore Colts team that Namath beat in the Super Bowl III (if I remember, the NFL Colts and Unitas, were huge favorites, over the lowly AFL leader, the Jets and Namath).

I think, after the Cardinal's/Warner's performance in the playoffs, it would not be to much of a stretch seeing Warner/Cards win the SB.

I'm sure the majority of football fans pick the Steelers, and they should be the favorites, just like the Eagles! image

I think Warner gets in, even if he looses the SB. What he did this year with the Cards is big! In my humble opinion, HOF big!

But will Kurt Warner GUARANTEE a win against the Steelers, like Broadway Joe Namath did against the huge favorite, Johnny Unitas and the Baltimore Colts? image

He has led two different teams to the Super Bowl, not storied franchises either. We are talking the Rams and the Cardinals.

This is his third Super Bowl.

He is 2 x NFL MVP.

He has one Super Bowl MVP so far.

He has one Super Bowl Championship Ring so far and his loss was to the dynasty that is the New England Patriots.

He's in, another SB victory is just icing on the cake for his legacy.
