I guess I should have sent this back to NGC.

I bought this on ebay a few years back in a AU58 holder, cracked it out and sent to PCGS where it also graded AU58. I sold
it raw last year now it's slabbed again as MS61.

Here's the coin raw.

great coin! i'm not surprised by the 'slider bump' though. the two services love to give certain scarce and desirable coins the occasional grading bump from AU to low MS. I guess the luck runs in having them do it to yours, if you plan on selling soon! image in fact, the PCGS grading guide allows slight wear and cabinet friction up to the grade of MS67, and NGC feels the same way.

Well it's a great coin whatever the little plastic thing says image

I didn't know that (there's a lot I don't know about slabbing!) I've always been curious how they'd treat older high grade billon.. it sometimes tends to have dull high points while keeping 65+ fields and devices.

    One other comment...

A coin such as this really exemplifies that grading has a significant subjective component and there is no right or wrong answers as grading is not comparable to a math problem... Grading is merely an opinion and an opinion can change

Very much agree!!! When at first you don't succeed; try, try again (at least if it makes financial sense) ............ and then send it ATS. image
