Caesar countermarked coin?

Hey guys. I just pulled this from the olive oil. I think that it has seen better days, but it is cool. Can anyone attribute this? What is the denomination? It is bigger than a US quarter. I wish the countermark was a little clearer, but...

Looks like an as of Claudius to me. Minerva on the reverse. Not sure about the countermark tho.

I agree. I thought Claudius as, too, except for a brief moment when Germanicus went through my head (but I believe the portrait faces the wrong way for that).

That coin looks like a possible rock tumbler candidate. By the time olive oil removes that crud, a Statehood quarter will be as old as that coin is today.

I dunno about the counterstamp, either, but it's cool. Maybe with some added decruddification, it will reveal more details, but I rather doubt it.

Edit to add the pic of the Claudius as from my old collection for comparison. It might have a different reverse, though.

Thanks guys! I saw caesar and thought that was what it was. I like countermarks, so it will stay in my collection as such. -Dan
