I love that Salzburg 3-kreuzer. Looks UNC, and prooflike, to boot. What's the grade on it? Is it raw? The white background almost looks like it was NGC slabbed, but I suspect it is raw, huh. Sure is a beauty.
The Gothic florin is nice, too. If I have anything left in PayPal, I might be tempted. But I probably don't.
Rob, The coin is raw. It looks Unc to me in hand, Not really my area of grading expertise. Let me know if the bank account can handle it or partial payment on that Otho that you have on ebay.

You win that Otho of mine, then I would be absolutely happy to take your Salzburg coin as a partial trade-in, at your price, if that's what you meant.
If you meant maybe I would have the money for the Salzburg after selling my Otho, you'd be technically correct, but not for long. I happen to owe dthigpen some money for holey coins, of all things. (But two of the three holeys are gold, one has a "C" mintmark, and the other is a Fugio cent, so even holey, they will cost some money!)
This is a 20gm silver coin. 41 mm in Diameter. The original strike of the DeNuda was a full pubic hair, it was rejected as being indecent and all were recalled. The dies were polished and all subsequent DeNudas appear to be shaved in the region. These are very difficult to find. I also have one that is probably a PF-63 in it's original holder with paperwork for $135. If you would like a shaved DeNuda, I have one of those also for $35.

The artwork, "Maja Desnuda" by Goya was probably the first known painting that ever depicted pubic hair on a painting, there is an argument going that Cranach the Elder may have painted pubic hair on a painting during the 16th century, but there is no agreement on that one.
What is known is that Goya was a court painter for Spain, he lost his commission as a direct result of this painting. This painting was done in 1808, and in 1812 Goya painted a clothed Maja to get back into the good graces with the patrons of his artwork. Today, 200 years later, we view this painting as a monumental and evocative piece of artwork and most art aficionados would not fault the work.
I have been reading of the excavations at Pompeii during the 19th century. Incredibly many of the frescos, mosaics etc. were locked away in a museum as profane during that time. Even more incredibly they are still locked away, and viewable only by appointment.
You are making me almost want to buy that coin, I have the gold version of it. Unfortunately I am on a buying embargo as of recently.
