Any Help? Info?

I found this in a local shop and since I collect $2 notes I had a hard time passing up this Two Dollar (coin/token?).
Can anyone give me a little background? Thanks in advance!

Its what is sometimes referred to as a "Trade Dollar/Token" from Canada. I have about 30 or 40 pf them from all over Canada. Sometimes the provinces would issue these coins for various reasons or celebrations. Most of mine have an expiration date on them. I'll post some of them if I even get around to imagine them. I have no idea where to find values for these other than the market value on ebay. I would usually buy 5 at a time in lots on there.

You have a "Municiple Trade Token". The book on these is authored by Serge Pelletier. Yours is catalogue # NB37, alloy is cuni, mintage 12k, current value in UNC is $4 CAD. The building shown is known as the Pagan House.

Canadian MTT's are inexpensive with most issues valued below $10 CAD, however, there are over 1800 issues. Face values range from 50c to $20 and dated from 1958 to present.

I've got a few hundred in my hoard.

Great Information. I paid about 75 cents for it. It has great toning which is completely washed out in these quick scans.

    Thanks!

I knew I had talked to someone on here about these before! I actually looked up that book at one time and thought about trying to get as copy. I looked at this series of books he put out after reading this and now realized why I didn't buy one! There are soOOooo many! Which one has the list of all of these tokens or, which would you suggest getting? Thanks man!

I think St Andrew's has one of the longest runs issuing municipal trade dollars

I've been there a few times and have picked up a few of them
