Why?

Are Eagles fans so much worse than Jets fans?

Stopped into the local watering hole to watch the Birds/Vikes game and had to leave after dowing a single brewski because the Eagles fans were just so unruly. Thowing food across the bar at two guys wearing Vikings hats and taunting the fans wearing Giants hats. You'd think they'd won the last three Super Bowls and went 16-0 this season based upon their actions. And this is Giants country! I'd love to see these guys in the bar next week. I'm sure the local Five-0 will be on the ready as it could get out of hand before kickoff!

Because Jets fans have class and Eagle/Phillies fans don't.

Not all Eagles fans are rude like that. We are generally very passionate. A couple of jerks don't define all Eagles fans. The vast majority of Eagles fans have a lot of class.

    I agree.

You can't judge and entire team's fans based on a few jerkoffs. There are idiot fans like that for every team. There are also bandwagon fans for every team that crawl out of the woodwork when a team is successful

They're always going to be there.

Not sure I recall that one, but the one when Murray played Cronkite and Ackroyd played Carter in "Ask the President" was funny as all get out, expecially the young caller that "Carter" talked down from an acid trip.

Mr. President told me to just relax, and that I am a living individual and am safe. He also recommended that I take some Vitamin B-12. Finally he asked me if I have any Allman Brothers music to listen to. He was a smart man.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

BTW, I realize that a handful of people NEVER can be considered representative of the whole, but while I love Philly for Springsteen concerts (he plays his heart out down there), too many Eagles and Flyers fans have regularly demonstrated lacks of judgement in social settings, either at stadiums and arenas or in local bars. The next worst group has been Jets/Mets fans.

Ironically, as a Yankees fan, while the rivalry is heated, I've had some of the best times hanging out with Red Sox fans at games (Fenway and Yankee Stadium) and in the bars. Sure, we argue like crazy, but there's some sort of mutual respect there. And I love to hear them order jalapeno poppers. That's wicked funny...

Not saying Scott really feels this way but it cracks me up when people generalize a teams fans or even the entire city when they have a run in with a few ignorant fans.

Like the ones who cheered when Michael Irvin's career was ended. I remember that game and shaking my head in disbelief thinking that here was a human being lying on the ground and not moving, possibly paralyzed and these jerks were cheering.
  • I would of loved to have some scumbag fan throw food at me while watching the game. I might not be the baddest MF'er in the game but at 5'11 260 I certainly don't take ****t off most people. Those pieces of garbage would have learned a hard, but valuable lesson.

This was when Ackroyd(Carter) was asked " Why are you against the B-1 bomber? " . He then stated that sinse it was a difficult question , he was going to break it into two question. "The first part of the question is WHY? Plato asked why ........ The second part of the question is " are you against the B-1 bomber? Yes.

Why are Eagles fans so ................(part 1)--Why? ........(Part2)---Yes

My level of frustration would depend on the food and if I liked it, if it had been eaten at all, and/or if it stained my clothes.

True. But some teams have MANY more idiot fans that others (although no one has any great way to measure this). And I think we can all agree that in some cities, severe idiocy is part of the culture of being a fan of that team.

To paint with a broad brush would be wrong, but is equally dishonest to fail to acknowledge that some teams' fans have developed a sort of pride over their own evolving hooliganism and sociopathic behavior.

I think that Philly is right up there in this regard.

Come on now gumby, this isn't about sports. An ounce of compassion huh, geez???

Scotts feelings were terribly hurt, those mean unruly bullies were very intimidating, they were throwing food and trash talking other guys and stuff.

I don't know anything about East Coast sports fans, but I just have to believe that no matter how bad they may be they still have a long way to go to catch White Sox fan. Those guys positively define oxygen thieves, as anyone who's attended a Chisox home game can (I am sure) readily attest.

You fans rooting for your Jets and Mets can have the class.....

    .....I'll take the championships.

Phillies are the champions and soon the Eagles will be as well.

Have to agree with you....I've had Cleveland Browns season tickets since they returned and the absolute worst game as far as visiting fans was when the Eagles played here when TO was on their team. Even worse then Steeler, Bengal or even Raven fans who attended games here in Cleveland.....there was a steady line of fans in Eagle jerseys being escorted out of the stands......and I have a great view of the Dog Pound where action went on the whole game.
  • alnavmanalnavman Posts: 4,129 ✭✭✭
Forgot to mention some Browns fans were being escorted out also but for sheer volume of fans from an opposing team being escorted out the Eagles fans were the best.

Having been to both Eagles (pronounced "ig-els") and Flyers games in Philly; I've been taken aback by the depth that Philly fans revel in their lack of decorum.

All teams in the world have a few bad fans, of course. However, I think the Eagle's fans do have a "reputation" and I am sure some fans feel they need to live up to that reputation. Same out here with some Raider's fans. I thus think those type of teams have more bad apple fans than the average team. For example, I am a Ram's fan and you don't hear too often about unruly Ram's fans. Having said all that, I have been to a lot of games, a lot of sports, a lot of bars, etc... all around the country and I think the Yankee fans at the bars and in the stadium were the rudest I ever witnessed... by far! Just my opinion. I remember the cops, in the stadium, laughing at the fans cussing out the opposing players. Out here, on the west coast, if you start cussing they throw you out of the stadium. Not saying it's good or bad just saying.
