The Chicago Cubs' 2003 season was the 131st season for the Cubs. The Cubs went 88-74 during the season and won the National League Central Division. In the playoffs the Cubs defeated the Atlanta Braves 3 games to 2 in the NLDS for their first playoff series win since 1908. The Cubs lost to the Florida Marlins 4 games to 3 in the NLCS.

The Steve Bartman incident occurred on October 14, 2003 when spectator Steve Bartman attempted to catch a foul ball in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Florida Marlins at Wrigley Field.[1] While only five outs from winning and playing in the World Series, the Cubs ended up losing the game and went on to lose the deciding game of the NLCS the next night
